These shepherd’s pies are made the same way as traditional shepherd’s pies, but they’re baked in little cake pans so everyone gets their own!

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Additional Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 50 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 4-inch pies

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground beef
  2. 1 onion, chopped
  3. 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  4. 1 cup frozen corn
  5. 1 tablespoon ketchup
  6. ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  7. 2 cups prepared instant mashed potatoes
  8. ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook and stir beef and onion in a skillet over medium-high heat until beef is browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes; drain and discard grease.
  2. Reduce heat to low. Stir mushroom soup, corn, ketchup, and pepper into beef mixture; cook until heated through, about 2 minutes. Divide beef mixture into four 4-inch round baking pans; spread prepared mashed potatoes over beef mixture.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until potatoes are lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
  4. Set oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler.
  5. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese evenly over pies. Place pies on a baking sheet.
  6. Broil until cheese is melted, about 2 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

It’s good and I like the different variations . (which is important) I was thinking that it had pie crust on the bottom or a layer of cornbread.

I’ve made this 3 times now. It’s really great! My picky husband and two year old love it. That’s high praise in itself. I didn’t alter the recipe the first time I made it but my husband wasn’t a fan of the onions so the second and third time I made it I used onion powder and it did t taste any different. Next time I might try onion flakes. Regardless, this recipe really doesn’t need alterations or substitutions. It’s great as is.

What a great, simple meal to make! I will definitely make this a go-to recipe. Followed recipe exactly, which I feel is what is needed before you can actually review it. Wouldn’t change a thing! I think this recipe was meant to be an easy meal, especially for working people!

This tasted fine. FYI if it’s made with beef it’s cottage pie. It has to be made with lamb to be shepherd’s pie. The clue is in the name!

all perfect except should be made with real mashed potatoes, not instant.

I added Himalayan salt, pepper and garlic combo to both mashed potatoes and the hamburger mixture. I baked at 400° for 25 minutes in a 8″ glass pie pan. Broiled the shredded cheddar cheese. Tasted amazing!

Awesome! but i boiled the frozen corn and just put it on top of the beef. I will make this again and again and again

5 stars – It isn’t Julia Child cuisine but it’s quick & easy, versatile & adaptable and very tasty. I used fresh mashed potatoes & canned kernel corn. I used left over cooked roast beef that I added into the onions step toward the end. On top I used a mixture of cheddar and Asiago. I’ll make this again and freeze the pies.

This is great and I will make it again. I used leftover mashed potatoes .

For those wondering about the missing oven temperature, Chelsey’s Personal Recipe tab has the original version of this recipe before submitting to AR. It states to “Bake at 400 degrees Farenheit for 15 minutes or until potatoes are lightly browned”. Concerning size of individual pans, it states: “classic comfort food is made in 2x 6″ cake pans, so everyone gets their own! For smaller portions, try making them in 4″ cake pans.” If baking in a large pan, the baking time would increase.

This was quick and easy to make. My hubby and nephew loved it. I didn’t make them individually, but still worked well.

I would make this again! I however cooked it a little differently. I used a glass round baking dish around 8 inch round I put cream of chicken soup instead of mushroom (allergic) I put cheddar cheese (mild) on top And I used home-made mashed potatoes instead of boxed (recommend) It was phenomenal! I also cooked it on 360 degrees since there was no temperature on the recipe.

tasted great. Very easy to make (better than hamburger helper). But the recipe does not give oven temp. So I used 360 degrees which seem to work fine.

I’ve made this recipe for 1 big pie & I’ve also made it for a couple of individual ones. So tasty!
