Delicious tiny meatloaf patties that are kid-friendly!

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 patties

Ingredients

  1. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  2. 1 slice soft bread, blended into crumbs
  3. ½ teaspoon salt
  4. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  5. 1 pound lean ground beef
  6. 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  7. 3 green onions, chopped
  8. 2 ¼ tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste
  9. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  10. 2 teaspoons prepared yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Mix egg, bread crumbs, salt, and black pepper together in a large bowl. Break ground beef into small pieces and add to the bowl; mix well with your hands until beef is evenly moistened. Shape beef mixture into four patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook patties in hot skillet until completely browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side; remove to a platter and drain grease from skillet.
  3. Return skillet to medium heat. Stir tomato sauce, green onions, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard together in the skillet. Gently add patties into the sauce and bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until patties are very firm, hot, and cooked through, about 10 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  4. I have also baked these patties in the oven at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) instead of frying and they came out just fine.

Excellent recipe! I had to substitute some ingredients because I didn’t have them. Instead of green onions, I used diced yellow onions & added some sliced peppers; honey mustard instead of yellow mustard; regular white sugar instead of brown sugar; A1 steak sauce instead of Worcestershire sauce. I also added some diced onions in the ground beef. Also, I made long patties (like for Salisbury steaks) instead of meatloaves. All in all, the patties & sauce came out delicious!

I was looking for a easy recipe calling for ground beef with a little added touch and this hit the spot. The only change I made was to leave out the green onions, which I did not have on hand and can be a digestive issue for my husband and me, and the amounts to make two patties instead of four. The tomato sauce was tasty. I will make it again.

It was easy to make! Kids loved it too! Doubled the recipe, used a cast iron, and it cooked up great. Didn’t have Worcestershire so used Teriyaki instead. Great improve

This recipe is a good simple dinner. I served them over noodles. The mustard was a bit strong for our liking. Will adjust next time.

Nothing fancy here, just meatloaf, good old comfort food perfect for a weekday dinner. I cut back a little on the brown sugar (our personal taste preference), but the ground beef patties with the sauce really do taste like oven-baked meatloaf. Moving forward, I will add some additional seasonings to the patties. Since we can grill all year in Florida, I’ll grill the patties, and then put them in the sauce to simmer on the stovetop (eliminating the splatter from the stovetop). Simple to make and quick to get on the dinner table, a winner in this house. Only one thing that I’lll miss…my leftovers for meatloaf sandwiches. 🙂 Thanks for sharing courteneynjones.
