Excellent recipe. This is my go-to for sloppy joes now. It has excellent flavor. You won’t be disappointed!

It came out delicious but a little thin for me. I’m unsure if the draining of the crushed tomatoes was enough. I stirred in about a tbsp of starch and let it sit for a while and it set up a bit. I will definitely make this again.

Very good, but not quite what I was expecting. It’s a rather sweet flavor that would be great for barbecue, but was a bit sweeter than I expected for a sloppy joe. Still extremely tasty, but it might not be what you’re expecting if you’re used to traditional canned sloppy joe sauce.

My wife loved it! It was easy to make, healthy and delicious! I had to pour off excess liquid at the end. Maybe a couple minutes on sauté at the end would help.

We pretty much made it as it was said other then using only one pound of beef, It turned out great and my wife and I really enjoyed it and will deffenintly make it again.

I found this to be very wonderful. As a true lover of canned Manwich I have never found a recipe that tastes better until now and this is it. I did use the advice of others and cut the vinegar in half. I have no idea what “strained” crushed tomatoes are so I poured in a whole can. And I did add a good squirt (about 3 Tbs.) of Baby Ray’s Honey Barbecue. I made some fresh coleslaw to accompany the meal. Very good.

This recipe was VERY good and easy! The only thing I did change was the seasoning a little because it started to taste a little too much like a chili sandwich. I cut back a little on the Chili and also added about a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon. It definitely gave it the Sloppy Joe kick it was missing. Also can be made with ground turkey and is delicious and quite a bit healthier!

I made this as a quick and easy meal for the family today. It was great! I made extra to refrigerate so the kids could warm some up later for a quick lunch during the week while I’m at work. They’ve already gone back for seconds! The only change I made was to reduce the apple cider vinegar by about half because I didn’t want it to be overpowering for them. It still has the tartness, but without being overwhelming for young, picky eaters. Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed this recipe! It was delicious. I’ve made it with and without the “optional” tomato paste, I recommend to INCLUDE the tomato paste. I used a Slight little extra paste Delicious!

I try to avoid sugars so instead, I used 2 smaller carrots and diced them. I added them with the garlic but for a softer texture, you can sauté with beef. Carrots will add a mild sweetness and a little more bulk to the dish.

I’d love to make this again! Followed the recipe and seasoned to taste. Savory and sweet and healthier with onions and peppers! Unfortunately I learned my husband doesn’t care for sloppy joe’s so maybe a once in a blue moon thing?

Very tasty! Loved the red peppers! So much moisture in the meat. Not dry and pasty like when u make it from a packet mix.

I would reduce or omit the brown sugar next time.
Melissa Williams
I thought it was way too sweet and too much vinegar.

A great recipe!

Really didn’t turn out well for me. Strong vinegar taste.

The best Sloppy Joe’s I have ever had. Incredibly easy to make. Definitely add the tomato paste and be sure to drain well. This is a new staple instant pot meal in our house!

I made these for the first time about a week ago. To me the flavor seemed to be lacking a bit… maybe the tomatoes over did it or not enough spice… idk…. But it was super easy to prepare and even with a little tweaking didn’t take nearly as much time as others!!! My fiance and I didn’t eat all of it as I doubled the recipe BUT it gave me a nice base to actually make a nice chilli the next day so I can say it’s super versatile and if you tweak it I think it’s actually a decent recipe!!
Theresa Clark
I made these as is, except for chili flakes. This was hands down the best sloppy joes I’ve ever had.
