One of my favorite uses for leftover ham is this.

Yield: | 6 servings |
Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 4 cups uncooked egg noodles
- 1 onion, chopped
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 2 cups diced cooked ham
- 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2-quart casserole.
- Bring water to a full rolling boil in a pot.. Cook the egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes; remove from heat, cover, and let stand until the noodles are tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.
- Stir the noodles, onion, sour cream, chicken soup, ham, and Swiss cheese together in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon into the prepared casserole. Sprinkle the top with bread crumbs.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the casserole is bubbling and the bread crumbs have browned, about 40 minutes.

Followed the recipe . Great comfort food.
Very good. Can be a little dry so I added half cup of heavy cream. Add as much to make it how you prefer. I also used mozzarella instead of Swiss cheese.
I added a cup of milk and covered it using a 9×13 pan. It was just right. No need for salt when using ham.
I followed the recipe exactly but was disappointed with the outcome. I probably won’t make this again.
I made some adjustments based on the comments. 1) I used crushed Ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs. 2) I added 1/2 a bar of softened cream cheese to help with the dryness. 3) I threw in a little broccoli. 4) I used a blend of all of the cheeses I had in the refrigerator. Wow! It was awesome.
This was excellent. I added some small broccoli pieces and some milk/cream to recipe.
this was delicious. I followed other’s advice and sautéed the onion and some garlic. I also browned the bread crumbs in butter and added them when the casserole was finished. I also covered it the whole time. Will definitely make again, everyone loved it. Pure comfort.
I agree with most every review. The onions don’t cook thoroughly and it does get a little dry. It is also delicious! Next time I would cut the recipe by 1/4 and use the same amount of soup.
We enjoyed this a lot. Used amish store egg noodles. Added peas and extra chicken broth b/c it easily dried out.
Thank you for the inspiration! I changed a couple things.. swapped cheddar cheese soup for chicken, added steamed broccoli and used crushed corn flakes and melted butter on top instead of bread crumbs. it came out deliciously!
This has quickly become a family favorite. I have to double the recipe for our family of 6 because it’s gone in a flash. I use the recipe just as published, and come out with a creamy dish that everyone loves. I have used leftover honey-baked ham in the past, but the last time I made it, I used inexpensive ham steaks (never even HEARD of them before) and it was excellent. Thank you!
It was awesome. Next time I’m going to add either peas or broccoli.
I added sautéed spinach and instead of onions, I used ramps because I had some in the freezer. I had some angel hair pasta in the fridge. I added some Water as well. I used panko bread crumbs and seasoned bread crumbs mixed with melted butter for a crunchy topping. Will make this again, there’s always plenty of leftover ham.
I added spinach and used cheddar cheese instead of swiss. I also sauted the onion and some garlic and added that. My family loved it – will make again.
This was so good! I always read the first 5+/- reviews before I follow a recipe and adapt based on my takeaways. I used tri-color rotini, which really complemented this. I sauteed the onion and some crushed garlic in olive oil upon others’ recommendations; added about 8 oz. of broccoli to the saute pan and lightly cooked that. When I drained the pasta, I reserved a little of the water in the pan to help thin out the sauce. I used a can of cream of celery soup to add another flavor, and added about a 1/2 can of milk, again to loosen up the sauce. I omitted the bread crumbs and served with a loaf of french bread. It was really good! Might have to make it next week too with some of my leftover ham!
This was really good! I will make it again, but probably use a little less ham and maybe add some chopped broccoli.
This will work using any type of cheese. I used cream of mushroom soup and chihuahua cheese. It was very yummy. Will definitely make again!
I made this and it was very good. The only change I made was using elbow macaroni instead of egg noodles. Turned out great and my family thought it was awesome. I will make it again.
Great use of that leftover ham!
I give this recipe a five star rating! My family absolutely loved!! No leftovers in this family! I did use some of the other ideas to sauté the onions which Included chopped celery. are you also add it seasoning salt. As recommended I did add milk. Also melted the butter with Panko breadcrumbs. Covered for half of the time and uncover until golden brown.
I made a few adjustments: -Used sharp cheddar cheese instead -Added a pack of bag steamed broccoli, chopped -Used cream of mushroom soup instead of the chicken -Added soy milk for additional moisture, using the volume of the empty can of mushroom soup -Baked the casserole covered with a “splash” of water to ensure moisture and then uncovered for an additional 2 minutes under the broiler to crisp the top YUMMY!!
