Garlic Shrimp Pasta

  4.0 – 114 reviews  • Shrimp

This salad is perfect for kids because it’s sweet and crispy. I made this for the first time when visiting my relatives in Newfoundland, and I was able to obtain a copy of the recipe. There won’t be any left over if you don’t make a lot. Along with spinach, any type of lettuce can be used. Another ingredient is raisins.

Servings: 8
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound vermicelli pasta
  2. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  3. 1 pound medium shrimp – peeled and deveined
  4. 3 tablespoons minced garlic
  5. 2 tablespoons butter
  6. 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water with vegetable oil until al dente.
  2. Meanwhile, place the shrimp in boiling salted water for 3 to 5 minutes, just until they turn pink. Cooking time will depend on the size of the shrimp. Remove the tails, and place in a bowl of warm water.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, mix butter or margarine and minced garlic. Microwave on high for 45 seconds, or until melted. Stir.
  4. Drain pasta, and transfer to a serving dish. Toss with garlic butter and shrimp. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve warm.

Looks good. I use larger shrimp.. at least low 20/lb. Also I marinate the shrimp in oil, garlic, onion and parsley, and cook lightly 3 min., add a chopped clove just after the Reggianno Parmegiano and , add the pasta and toss the batch.

I seasoned my shrimp cooking water with Red Lobster Seafood seasoning. I seasoned my pasta water and the butter, garlic mixture with bouillon and added fresh garnish. Since I had fresh garlic I cut about 3 small cloves in. Best Scampi sailice I have every tasted, I thought I did not like scampi before finding this recipe. Thanks

This lives up to its reputation as easy and foolproof, and it can easily be scaled up or down in servings. I sauteed the shrimp and added chopped basil and coarsely ground black pepper.
Catherine Goodman
Instead of boiling shrimp sauteed it in garlic butter instead on another reviewers post.

Super easy and something different to serve my family on a warm summer evening. I added some sautéed green beans and used olive oil instead of vegetable. Would definitely make again maybe with different veggies.

I did take the advice of other reviewers and cooked the shrimp in olive oil and minced garlic. But this was the easiest recipe to follow!!

Easy to make and very delicious.

I used crushed red instead of black pepper. I also add a little butter to the evoo toward the end of sauteeing the garlic… And sometimes a pinch of dried herbs like herbs de provance. Occasionally, I will add some small cuts off cooked cauliflower to the dish.

I followed the recipe to the letter except at the end I added some sun dried red tomatoes and it turned out to be absolutely delicious and something I will definitely make again in the future.

This was a real simple and easy dish to eat. I’ve used jumbo shrimp and let it boil from 6-9 minutes for pinkness. I wouldn’t change a thing and would make it again.

Made this with a few additions and we loved it! Sautéed onions and yellow squash and added it to the pasta. Put it all together and fresh ground pepper. So delicious!

My family loved this pasta but like the others I changed a couple of things. I seared the shrimp on a skillet with minced garlic and butter and olive oil. I also added sun dried tomatoes and parsley when mixing the pasta together. It was delicious.

I make this quite often. We are garlic lovers so I triple the garlic. fast, easy and delicious,

It was missing something I needed a touch more flavor I used a stick of butter and pinch of salt and the cheese still missing something but other than that not bad. Will follow some of the other suggestions next time like tomatoes and lime.

Easy and quick. We really enjoyed it and will definitely make it again!

This dish is pretty bland. It needs some kind of veggie, .like broccoli maybe.
Ronald Sandoval
Added Chopped tomato for flavor.

Good stuff, but I made some cooking modifications so I didn’t rate it higher. I sauted the garlic with some lemon juice and diced green onions and added the peeled butterflied raw shrimp to the pan to allow the shrimp to seer. I also added a dash of cajun seasoning. Served on top of hot pasta and sprinkled Parmesan cheese on top.

It was great! I did similar to what others said with my own little spin, I deveined and peeled large fresh prawns and sat them in a combo of 1/2 lemon juice and 1/2 olive oil, with some fresh ground pepper. I made gluten free thin pasta, which I only boiled for 5 minutes (i have over cooked it in the past and discovered this is the perfect amount of time) Then I put a few tablespoons of butter and a bit of olive oil in a pan with lots of garlic and chopped up fresh parsley from my garden. I tossed the prawns in there on medium heat with the lid on, and when they were almost cooked through, I turned them and cooked for a couple more minutes, adding halved cherry tomatoes at the very end, then I tossed the strained pasta in the pan and mixed it around adding fresh shaved parmesan to the mix. Once stirred up nice and even I put it in pretty bowls and topped each one with a tad of parmesan and parsley. My man asked for seconds 🙂 yum!

Rather than microwave garlic butter I sauté the garlic in butter with a touch of EVOO and perhaps some fresh oregano then add the shrimp and cook a few minutes until perfect. This will infuse the shrimp with far more flavor than boiling the poor things in water and washing away the flavor. One other comment, always use fresh grated Parmigiano Reggiano; it makes the dish!

I don’t boil the shrimp, I think you can get away with grilling it. Really easy recipe my kids ate it up quick.
