I was raised on homemade turkey noodle soup and these buttery popovers. Very simple to make and delicious. UNTIL IT IS DONE, DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN!

Perfect with my turkey wings soup
First off, this recipe is too casual about cooking time. Once dumplings are in the pot, place the cover on and gently simmer for 10 minutes. The remove the cover for 10 more minutes of cooking. This recipe as IA, produces heavy poorly cooked dumplings
I added dry celery leaf to the flour. So light and fluffy. Delicious.
Dumplings rose to my expectations.
This is a good base recipe, it came out as you would expect. This isn’t a bad quality. I could see lots of things that I might do differently but I suspect I would use this recipe as a base for those creations.
I added an egg. They were really good.

I really love the simplicity of this recipe. This was my first time making dumplings for a chicken soup. I used self-rising flour in light of some reviews suggesting increasing the baking powder, and adjusted the salt accordingly. With this tweak the dumplings turned out quite fluffy and generally delicious.
These are great, I put all the ingredients in my kitchen aid and mixed up much faster. Rolled them out instead of how recipe calls for and they were perfect. I will be making these again and again. Thanks for sharing your recipe with us.
I usually use Jiffy mix, but realized I didn’t have any. I found your reciepe and they were better then my jiffy dumps! Thx so much for the reciepe
A basic, straightforward dumplings recipe. Fully cooked, buoyant, tasty dumplings that were easy to make with few ingredients and little extra effort. My family gobbled them up! Thanks!
I will make it again it was very good
It turned out beautiful & really Delicious for the Stew I made Thank-you again Patricia
I’ve always made dumplings with Bisquick, but my mix was expired. I couldn’t believe how quick and easy this recipe was, and how well the dumplings turned out! I’m never buying mix again!
I found these dumplings to be dense and they didn’t rise, perhaps it was user error. I would probably add more baking powder and a little butter to the mixture if I were to make them again.
Had to add more milk to make the consistency right, but overall good dumplings in a pinch!
I added salt and parsley to make them a little bit different. They were very easy to make.
they did turn out more dense than bisquick dumplings, but this worked in a pinch when we were out of bisquick. Would use again. Thank you!! 🙂
Easy recipe and maybe I cook them to long but they were really doughy tasting. Probably won’t make again.
Great recipe. I was out of bisquick and this was a great substitute! I didn’t make any additions or changes. Perfect just the way it is. Simple and good!
Just what I was looking for– didn’t have Bisquick on hand. This recipe made nice dumplings.
