Ingredients
- 1 (28 ounce) can baked beans
- 2 (16 ounce) packages hot dogs, sliced
- 1 (7.5 ounce) package corn bread mix
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Pour the can of beans into a 9×13 inch baking dish so they cover the bottom. Arrange hot dog slices so they cover the beans as completely as possible. If too much juice seeps through to the cornbread, it will take longer to cook. Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions. Spread the batter evenly over the hot dog layer.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cornbread is cooked through. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

I made cornbread bowls and filled them instead .Amazing!
Increased the hot dogs and used Honey Cornbread mix with jalapeno and cheese added. My boys loved it! This recipe is now in our standard rotation.

A super kid friendly, tasty dish, I’m not a gourmet cook, but cook reasonably well. This isn’t a gourmet dish, but a quick, easy, good dinner. And, as I said, KID FRIENDLY. I did add half a can of mild green chilies to the cornbread. THANKS CONTRIBUTORS AND ALLRECIPES.
I made this exactly as written and baked for the 40 minutes. It seemed a little dry so next time I will be using 1 1/2 cans of beans and only bake for about 35 minutes. I was able to cover the beans with only 1 package of sliced hotdogs as well. We both liked it but agreed it needed more beans.

This is sooo good!! I’ve made it as written and with hot sausages instead of hot dogs. Both are delicious and my family devours it. It’s in our monthly rotation.

Surprisingly pretty good, although next time I will only use enough hot dogs to cover the beans. 2 packages is quite a bit.
I added some brown sugar, ground mustard, and ketchup to the beans, then some American cheese over the top of the hot dogs. 1 box of corn muffin mix was a little short, but I think 2 would be too much. Family loved it.
May be better with higher quality ingredients, but my experience with it tasted bad.
My husband and I made this because we are o.k. a budget and this was wallet friendly. We both agree that it taste like a corndog with baked beans. It was very good given the ingredients. I can see how kids like this, as well. We used Bush’s Baked Beans in the Burien sugar and maple flavor for added sweetness. We might throw in some brown sugar next time. If you are looking for a cheap and easy recipe, this is a great one!

The 1st time I made it, it was ok, but not a keeper. I decided to try again with pork & beans instead of baked beans. That is a keeper. It is the new family favorite.
I have to say, you can not beat this kid friendly meal! My kids get tired of in their words my “fancy” cooking…so to keep them happy, this actually is pretty darn good! Cheap, quick, easy, and the kids love it, how can you go wrong. I do use Turkey hot dogs, kids never know the difference.

been making this for years, actually tastes better next day after cornbread has sopped up a little juice. and yes, it’s similar to beenie weenie but if u use really good baked beans, it tastes alot better. My new favorite alternate is using a southwestern style can of grillin beans and chorizo(please precook this well or casserole will be greasy). You can also use plain, unsweetened cornbread batter, add jalapenos to either variety of cornbread. you can also use any precooked sausage(polish, andouille, whatever). it’s definitely a comfort food. try using chili, also. you can skip the added meat with that. it’s not fancy, but it sure tastes good and could not be ezier to whip together.
I lowered the temp to 375. Added 1/2 chopped onion and a drained can of corn. Drained a little of the sauce from the beans so it wouldn’t be that wet. I’m gluten free so used a gluten free cornmeal mix. Also added cheese to the cornbread mix. This turned out wonderfully and will be making this again. It was a big hit. This would be great for a family picnic………..
