I’ve never made jam in my life, but I felt the urge to do it. I found out when I searched up recipes that I was missing the specific items required, so I made do with what I had. The outcome was so amazing that I simply had to share! This recipe uses frozen berries and doesn’t contain any pectin.

My husband and I really enjoyed this! To cut down on calories and fat, I substituted ground Turkey and used farro instead of rice. I also added Italian seasoning and a few more cloves of garlic. Instead of cooking with bacon on top, I cooked the bacon separately and we sprinkled on our individual servings. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with freezing this recipe?
My husband and I loved this casserole. I’ve tried many over the years. This was the easiest and most delicious. I did add two things: 1 tsp cumin and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Perfection!
I guess that maybe the instructions should have mentioned somewhere, during the 1 1/2hrs baking time to remove the foil so the bacon could crisp up. Too late now, guess i’ll go hungry this evening.
Absolutely Great….I didn’t change a thing I followed allrecipes post of the recipe and my husband and I loved it. I also made a pan of cornbread to eat with it. The meal was so good.
Ok. So that’s a different name. I learned this from a friend’s mother over 20yr ago. She just called it Cabbage Mince. Maybe an Aussie thing? She used a more savoury mince without the tomato sauce but often some tomato paste. Hers often had diced carrot and I guess whatever else she felt like at the time in. And I must admit, I think I change it up everytime I make it. Not sure if that’s a ‘just what I have’ thing. I love it. My kids all love it. A huge family favourite. Leftovers get turned into a Cottage Pie. I never add any tomato to mine but lots of herbs and some selected spices. I also cut my cabbage a little thicker as I like it to still have texture and cook for less time for same reason. To me it’s still just Savoury Cabbage Mince.
Makes my mouth water. I’m hungry now
A better name for this might be Lazy Golumpki. There’s no such thing as an “Easy” Cabbage roll, at least not in my experience. Recipe does sound good, though.
With eight slices of bacon grease in it the taste might be good but man it is full of fat. Something fairly healthy into something really bad.
Great recipe! The only change I made was to add 1 1/2 teaspoons of paprika. Delicious!
This is just like a dish my mom made. She added italian spices to the sauce. I believe both dishes are fives. Also, I like the thinner lasagna noodles
Wow! I only made this because we had so much cabbage and I was running out of ways to cook it. Minor changes; cooked onions with the hamburger, since I used minute rice – didn’t need to cook for 10 min, just brought to a quick boil and done. Only change would be to cube or break up the bacon vs layering the full length of the baking dish. Couldn’t believe how much we liked this and the leftovers were great the next day! Excited to make this one again! Thanks Tracy!
Made this recipe twice now. The second time I made it, I used ground pork instead of hamburger and then an oregano, garlic and basil tomato sauce instead of plain. Very tasty meal!
It was good and I added spoonfuls of sauerkraut to the layers. I did leave off the bacon. The next time I make this, I might add more rice. Liked getting the flavor of cabbage rolls without the time consuming rolling.
We made this without the bacon and it was amazing….no need to spend the time rolling rolls with this one
I made this recipe to the letter and it is out of this world delicious. Today I’m making it again for the second time. This recipe is a keeper. At the top of my favorites list.
Very good recipe!
J aime bien ça
Excellent comfort food! Cheers!
Do not read any reviews unless rated a 5. Made as noted, baked 1 hour with foil, and 45 minutes without. Bacon was done to perfection. This dish was amazing. Served with horseradish mashed potatoes. What a meal.
Made this recipe just as written. Came out very tasty and it’s easy. Why stuff and roll cabbage leaves? Same taste, less work. Some of you might want to add a little cayenne to the sauce to spice it up a little.
I’m currently following a keto diet so I tweaked this a bit and exchanged the 1/2 cup of rice for 1 cup of shredded zucchini. It was delicious and sooo filling. I think next time I’ll use a little less salt because with the bacon it was pretty salty. Otherwise…YUMMMMMM!
