Curry Turkey Burgers

Looking for a beef burger that’s a little different from the norm? Curry spice and mango chutney can lend a flavorful kick to lean ground turkey burgers. Ours is served with leaf lettuce, Sriracha mayo, and maybe a piece of onion on a sesame seed bun.

Total Time: 40 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 turkey burgers

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound ground turkey (such as Jenni-O®)
  2. ¼ cup mango chutney (such as Major Grey’s®)
  3. 2 tablespoons panko bread crumbs
  4. 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  5. 1 tablespoon curry powder
  6. 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  7. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  8. ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  9. freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ground turkey, mango chutney, bread crumbs, dried onion, curry powder, ginger, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl; mix well. Quarter the mixture, and shape into patties about 1/2-inch thick.
  2. Move patties to the freezer for 20 minutes to help them hold their shape better on the grill and not fall apart.
  3. Prepare an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
  4. Cook turkey burgers on the preheated grill over direct heat until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 4 to 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Serve immediately.
  5. As a cooking option, these turkey burgers also can be cooked on a stovetop over medium-high heat in a lightly oiled, large nonstick skillet.

My family loved it. I didn’t put in the freezer before grilling, so it did crumble a bit. I also used real onion and I didn’t have chutney so I added chopped fresh pineapple . Yummalicious!

Very moist and delicious. My husband loved them. I would definitely make again. I might try grilled pineapple on it the next time.
