Crispy Baked Chicken Legs

I think I like the icing even more than I like the cake, so I’m going to try it again with a typical butter cake the next time. An excellent treat that was once out of style but is currently enjoying a resurgence is caramel frosting.

Ingredients

  1. 4 pounds chicken legs
  2. 2 tablespoons chili powder
  3. 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  4. 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  5. 1 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
  6. 2 tablespoons tamari

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Place chicken legs in a large bowl. Spread chili powder, garlic powder, cayenne, and salt onto the chicken; pour sauce over top. Mix thoroughly and transfer to a baking sheet.
  3. Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven until chicken is no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, 45 to 50 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  4. You can use soy sauce instead of tamari if desired.

I loved this recipe! I did use soy sauce and the rest of the ingredients. I did broil them after baking just to get the crisp to my preference. The taste was outstanding!

It’s a decent recipe that gives you flavorful, juicy, perfectly cooked chicken legs, but not crispy ones. The skin is not that great. So perhaps broil this in the last 5 minutes to get what you expect.

This was good, but it would be too spicy for a family with young children. Easy to throw together and full of flavor. The chicken was plenty done after 40 minutes, so keep an eye on it. I wouldn’t say these really come out crispy per se, but good nonetheless.
