Creamy Sausage and Potato Bake

It has been in the family for many generations. Despite the fact that it can provide 6 major dish dishes, my family enjoys it so much that we usually only get 3 double plates.

Prep Time: 30 mins
Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Total Time: 2 hrs
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  1. 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
  2. ½ cup milk
  3. ½ cup chopped onion
  4. ½ cup chopped green bell pepper
  5. ½ teaspoon salt
  6. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  7. 5 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced, or more to taste
  8. 8 ounces fully cooked smoked sausage, sliced
  9. 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
  10. 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 3-quart baking dish.
  2. Combine condensed soup, milk, onion, bell pepper, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl; mix until well blended.
  3. Layer 1/2 of the potato slices in the prepared baking dish. Top with 1/2 of the sausage and 1/2 of the soup mixture. Repeat layers once more. Dot butter over the top.
  4. Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour 15 minutes. Remove the cover and sprinkle Cheddar cheese over top. Bake, uncovered, until bubbly and the cheese has melted, about 15 more minutes.
