I love this recipe! I did make some changes to include the following I didn’t use celery but did sautee an onion. Also didn’t use sage put threw in a good dash of cinnamon and a smidge of smoked paprika. Leftovers are even better!!! Also put mustard on top after reheating. Sooo good!

Love it!! My kids enjoy this!!

This was truly amazing! I had to make a few changes due to lack of ingredients. I had no sage and, since I don’t particularly like sage I didn’t buy any just for this recipe. I was out of green onions so substituted Vidalia onion. I also only made a half-size recipe but did add a bit extra celery and onion. I have no illusion that this casserole is “good for you” but it did resemble the corn dog taste which means it truly tasted good!

Didn’t get done enough in the middle, but edges were well done. Next time I will bake it in a ring style pan to see how that goes. Didn’t use sage as it is not typically found in corn dogs.

Made this tonight & followed most of the recipe with the exception of chopping the hot dogs a little smaller & adding only half the cheese called for. My impression after eating it is that I should have omitted the onions & celery on behalf of adding a can of corn and some chopped, pickled jalapenos! I think the jalapenos and corn would take it to another levels & that is my plan for next time.

If you are looking for a quick, easy, delicious meal the kids will like and adults too, this is your recipe!! I didn’t put the celery, green onions or sage in mine, I did add a can of cream corn as one reviewer suggested. I like it!! Next time I will put onion in it as I was out this time ??

We have seven kids so I’m always looking for great casseroles. This is one of them. We don’t buy boxed cornbread mix so we use 1 cup cornmeal, 1 cup flour, 1-3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 3.5 teaspoons baking powder instead of the boxes. We leave the rest of the recipe the same. It was perfect!

I doubled the recipe to share with friends. The kids likes it, but the adults’ didn’t. I will not make this again per request from family

Did everything the same except I didn’t add the sage. I added a little Splenda because we like our cornbread on the sweet side and the casserole was delicious. I even shared it with a friend and she wanted more.

I made this for lunch today and was not happy with the flavor. I do not like celery and my son does not like onions so those were omitted. I did not have sage and substituted poultry seasoning. That was a mistake. The substitution guide I used said to use the same amount that the recipe called for. The end result was total bitterness. Next time I will not use any seasoning at all and let the flavor combo of sweet cornbread and meaty hotdog stand on its own.

Prepared this dish and everyone loved it . Adjusted the recipe as per a few reviews . Added 1 can of drained sweet corn -1/2 of the sage noted and 1/4 cup of sour cream .

I made this exactly as written. It was delicious! My picky boys even liked it! Next time I will try to omit the sage and celery and use cream corn as suggested by other reviewers.

I made the recipe exactly how it is written except no sage or pepper. I halved the recipe because it was just my husband and myself. We really enjoyed it. Love corn dogs but don’t really eat them anymore. Super easy recipe. I also baked it an extra 6 minutes which made it come out perfect.

I made this and it was delicious. I followed it exactly except I only put in 1 teaspoon of sage but I think when I make it again I will use the 2 teaspoons because I couldn’t taste the sage. I used beef sausage instead of hotdogs. I loved having the celery and onions in it because it gave it so much flavor. My husband said he really liked it. I will surely make it again.

It is delicious. The entire family enjoyed it, and some asked for seconds. It was satisfying. I put some extra shredded cheese on top, turned the oven off and put the dish back in the oven for 3 mins. Very nice and yummy…

Love this recipe people rave about it when I make it…

This will be in my weekly rotation of dinners!!

I made this exactly as written and I was surprised at how much I liked it. It really captures the flavor of a corn dog. Don’t leave out the veggies, just slice them very finely. They add moisture and sweetness that you don’t want to skip. Everything melds together, I didn’t taste sage, celery, onions or cheese. I just tasted corn dog!
Pamela York
I did as others suggested and omitted the sage and celery and added a can of creamed corn. This is the first time that the consensus from other users on this site have steered me wrong. It was like eating really soggy corn pudding with hot dogs. I’ll go ahead and give this four stars since I changed the recipe so much from the original (even though I followed the user suggestions), but I don’t think I’ll make this again.
