Comforting Sloppy Joes

  3.8 – 4 reviews  • Sloppy Joe Recipes

Breakfast with cottage cheese eggs is a great departure from typical scrambled eggs. This egg recipe yields a creamy, tender result. A delicious and quick low-carb breakfast that goes great with a piece of tomato and turkey bacon.

Yield: 10 sandwiches

Ingredients

  1. 1 drizzle olive oil
  2. 1 small sweet onion, diced
  3. 3 pounds lean ground beef
  4. 1 ¼ cups ketchup
  5. ¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
  6. ¼ cup white vinegar
  7. ¼ cup brown sugar
  8. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  9. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  10. 1 teaspoon onion powder
  11. salt and ground black pepper to taste
  12. 10 hamburger buns, split

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan, skillet, or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Saute onion in the hot oil until softened, about 5 minutes. Add beef; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Stir ketchup, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the pan; mix until thoroughly combined. Let simmer over low heat, 15 to 20 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper to your liking.
  3. Serve on hamburger buns.
  4. You can use vegetable oil instead of olive if you like.
  5. Depending on personal tastes adjust the sugar amount up or down. As written it is somewhat on the sweet side.

Great find for some CoronoV stay at home food. As was just for two I cut the recipe to make it with 1 pound of bison. Added a bit of smoked paprika and some tomato sauce as we like ours especially sloppy 🙂

This was pretty good. Made the first time just as the recipe said, second time I left the vinegar and brown sugar out and replaced with root beer, we liked it better the second go around. Liked it better the second time.
