Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 5 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 (16 ounce) can green beans, drained
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
- ½ cup warm milk
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt

- Mash cooled potatoes with warm milk, beaten egg, garlic, pepper, and salt until smooth; spread evenly over beef mixture. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is melted and the edges begin to brown, 25 to 30 minutes.

Delicious and easy to make.
I made it last night and it was yummy
6/14/22 This was pretty good. Lacked a bit of seasoning, added extra salt and pepper at the table. The garlic added to the mashed potatoes was a winner.
It’s a good meal. I did make some changes using what I had on hand. Also, I did not add the fresh minced garlic to the potatoes. Instead, I sauteed chopped garlic with the onions and sprinkled garlic powder into the mashed potatoes mix before spreading. My other changes included using Cream of Mushroom condensed soup instead of the tomato soup, and I used corn as the veggie. I did sprinkle shredded cheese on top, but for some reason, it just melted right into the potatoes… All in all, it’s a very good meal. It’s that kind of meal where you can substitute and use “whatevah!” Enjoy!
This is SOOO tasty. And it is a recipe which lends itself to endless variations. I used mushroom soup. I thought it would be enough for two full meals plus a lunch for my husband, but no way. He loved it so much, that it just did not last for that long,
The potato to meat ratio was way off. Way too many potatoes for 1 lb of meat. Also the potatoes did not have enough butter or milk so they were dry and tasteless
I did chance the recipe up a bit but it was really good, I’ll make it again. I added corn with the green beans, added 1/4 can of chopped jalapeño for some heat, used almond milk, I used a can of cream of chicken soup and a splash of broth to make a gravy, and only 3 russet potatoes. Thumbs up.
Didn’t make any changes; did not like the use of tomato soup. It was too sweet for me.
This is our favorite and have been eating it for 50 years. We don’t use onions – just brown the ground beef , stir in the tomato soup spread it in the casserole dish, top it with green beans, then shredded cheese if you like, spread mashed potatoes over the top minus the egg, put pats of butter on top, bake it until it gets bubbly. yum yum yum
Very easy to make and so delicious, I used 1.5lbs of ground beef and substituted the green beens with corn and peas which my family prefers and I also added 2 tbspn of Worcestershire sauce
Imade this recipe just as it said and my family loved it! I really liked how easy it was to make, everything in one dish….a busy mom’s dream
Made without changes….however next time I will probably add sautéed pepper, carrots and can of corn. We ate the whole casserole (only used 2 large potatoes), husband said it was very good.
this is a keeper I doubled the recipe and we ate it all gone
made it! but with small amount of corn added. and yes we will make it again everyone liked it.
My granddaughter and I love looking at all the recipes and we decided on this one because it seemed relatively easy with ingredients we had on hand. Followed the directions to the tee and it turned out great! It will go into “family favorites”!
1st time I made just as listed. Lacked flavor a bit dry. Next time I added salt garlic pepper to meat and used 2 cans of soup. Put cream cheese extra garlic salt in the potatoes turned out amazing. Thank you
It was good; added extra seasonings.
I made it adding spices and other ingredients to make it my own. This recipe is easily adaptable and is a winner dinner any day of the week!
This was really good. I made this as directed except for the mashed potatoes. Last night I made the slow cooker mashed potatoes by BWAYE ( Delicious) on Allrecipes and used the leftover mashed potatoes for this recipe. It was really good. Everyone really enjoyed it and asked that I make it again.
I just thought it was extremely bland.
My 5 kids loved this!!!! I did use manwich instead of tomato soup just bc I’m not s fan of the soup but it all turned out so well!!!!
