Bacon, lettuce, and tomato make up this BLT, which is simple but tasty. (These days, I substitute faux vegetarian bacon, and it still tastes fantastic!)

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  1. 4 slices bacon
  2. 2 leaves lettuce
  3. 2 slices tomato
  4. 2 slices bread, toasted
  5. 1 tablespoon mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain bacon on a paper towel-lined plate.
  2. Arrange cooked bacon, lettuce, and tomato slices on one slice of bread. Spread mayonnaise on the other slice of bread. Close to make a sandwich.

Best go-to sandwich, ever. I used low sodium turkey bacon, and rye bread, topped with deli style mustard. Good stuff.

Lost stars due to showing toasted bread but not including that step in the recipe.

The only change I made was I put creamy horseradish on once piece of bread/toast and mayo on the other. Gives it nice kick.

You should slightly toast the bread to give it more of a crunch. You could also mix some Dijon with the mayo for a more intensified sauce. Serve with an ice cold coke, cup of coffee or a cup of tea.

Your basic, straight-forward BLT recipe. The one thing I will add, and this is from being a long-time cook, is when you assemble the sandwich, after spreading the mayo on your toast clear to the edge, place the lettuce down on your toast, then the tomato in the MIDDLE of your sandwich. This helps keep your sandwich from becoming soggy. Our all-time favorite summer sandwich, since the early 1950’s.

I saw this recipe and wondered “ why is this posted, who doesn’t know this?” Then I read Lovestohost ‘s comment and YES, why do I assume everyone knows about the classics i grew up with? So thanks for this and if you haven’t tried it do it now!

Add a fried egg with or without a runny yolk.?? Devine!

Here is a little clue. Cook the bacon on medium heat to keep it from spattering and curling. Takes a few minutes longer but it’s worth it.

I half expected Gordon Ramsey to bust in my kitchen and say, “It’s literally the name of the sandwich, you idiot!” :D! But I never make “special” sandwiches, and wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. I did add siracha mayo, but did the exact recipe otherwise

3.23.18 Made a double decker using three slices of toasted bread with lettuce and tomato on the bottom, bacon on the top, and that third slice in the middle. Good stuff!

Had Turkey breast leftover from Thankgiving and decided to make a BLT! Awesome, especially after brining the Turkey for 24 hours, this was so juicy and the bacon just threw this over the top!
