Best Hamburger Ever

  4.3 – 623 reviews  • Hamburgers

This one is similar to the seven-layer bars, but it has an additional layer of sweetened condensed milk and no butterscotch chips.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 hamburgers

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
  2. ½ onion, finely chopped
  3. ½ cup shredded Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
  6. 1 clove garlic, minced
  7. 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  8. 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  9. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  10. 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  11. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  12. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  13. ½ teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
  14. salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  2. Meanwhile, combine ground beef, onion, cheese, egg, onion soup mix, minced garlic, garlic powder, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, basil, oregano, rosemary, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Use your hands to form the mixture into 4 patties.
  3. Cook patties on the preheated grill until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Delicious!

Wow! Delicious! I omitted the egg as somebody said it was more like meatloaf. Good call in my opinion. All the other ingredients really made this burger very tasty.

The title of this burger is NO LIE! I’ve made this about a dozen times and everyone who’s eaten them has raved. Last time I made them with bison and believe it or don’t, they were EVEN BETTER. You will be the talk of any cookout at which you serve these. People will beg for this recipe. Good on whoever thunk this one up.

I wish people weren’t allowed to comment on your recipes. There are always going to be smart-ass people.

Best hamburger recipe!

My go to. Seemed like a lot of the ingredients were Italian Seasoning based. I also threw in diced fresh Jalapeños to give it a little kick.

Great way to do burgers! Love it!
Steve Obrien
More like a meatloaf then a hamburger, but it was tasty

This burger is so flavorful! My husband says he will not eat a homemade burger any other way. Highly recommend

I read the reviews and was surprised that so many people didn’t understand that when you add this many ingredients to ground beef, it will not be what most consider a “classic hamburger.” But that doesn’t mean that it won’t taste good. I mixed all of the dry ingredients together (did leave out the rosemary) to avoid overworking the meat and to get everything incorporated. No complaints from us, this grilled up to be a juicy, tasty sandwich, even if it wasn’t traditional.

A great recipe. Just be careful not to over cook the burgers.
Laura Miller
Salty and terrible consistency. This is pretty much a meatloaf recipe, not a hamburger.
Neil Good
I really don’t understand people playing with the tried and true ultimate recipe for hamburger patties. All that is required is ground beef (not too lean or they turn out dry), salt and pepper and nothing else. And don’t over work the meat. I agree with most here. It’s more meatloafy. Not for burgers.

I loved it! So did my family. It smelled so good just mixing it and cooking it that I could hardly wait to taste it.
Michael Nelson
You’ll love it..if you love a meat loaf tasting burger
Andrea Mack
I would not make this recipe again, even with alterations. The onion soup flavor was off-putting and overly strong, and these did not end up tasting like burgers. It would not have made for a good meatloaf, either. I was disappointed that I tried this new way of preparing burgers on a night I had company! I mostly win with trying new recipes, but this was an L.

GREAT AS MEATLOAF BURGER

I’ve been using the Lipton Onion & Mushroom Soup to Step it Up, and Wow does it ever taste fabulous, Bigtime. No burgers left on the plate. Sorry didn’t have a chance to take a pic, my son and twin 5yr old boys are Savages, maybe next time!!!

I make these all the time time it’s called meatloaf delicious !
Christina Lowe
The taste might be good but it’s not a hamburger IMO. It’s a personal size meatloaf of sorts.
