It’s a good approximation of Manwich sloppy joes. It reminds me a lot of cafeteria sloppy Joe’s from elementary school.

It came out a little liquid, so I reduced it in a skillet. That’s all it needed. I put it back into the slow cooker, and it was great!

If I didn’t make it for kids, I would add a few canned chipotles for added spice and flavor.

I made this recipe for NYE and I was a bit disappointed. The meat was flavored really sweet. I used yellow pepper in stead of red pepper. Could this be the cause of the sweetness?

I think I need to change the amount of onion and red pepper and a few other spices in this recipe.

Sorry, I haven’t made the recipe, but I can’t figure out why you would take 4 hours to make sloppy joes in a slow cooker when you can make them in less than 30 minutes stovetop…?

Nailed it, Valerie! This will replace the canned stuff that the Manwich ads lead us to believe we must have in order to make Sloppy Joes. This recipe is so much fresher, more delicious. I’ve done this in the slow cooker as well as stove top and both came out great.

Strange taste. Should’ve browned the meet first. Won’t make this recipe again. My hubby liked them but he usually likes everything

My only concern with following this is the ground beef.  The very first time I used a slow cooker was to make spaghetti.  The recipe read “ground beef” but I discovered (the hard way) that “browned” should have preceded ground beef.  My spaghetti sauce tasted like dog food, as stated by my dinner guests.  I will try this with lightly browned meat, but not uncooked, for the texture.
