This weeknight supper is a kid-friendly and healthier alternative to your run-of-the-mill chicken fingers.
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 45 min
Active: 25 min
Yield: about 8 pieces

Ingredients

  1. 3/4 cup buttermilk
  2. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  3. 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  4. 1 pound chicken tenders
  5. 1 1/2 cups panko
  6. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  7. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  8. Kosher salt
  9. 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  10. 3 tablespoons yellow mustard
  11. 2 tablespoons honey
  12. 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. For the chicken: Combine the buttermilk, Worcestershire sauce and paprika in a resealable plastic bag. Add the chicken, making sure it is completely coated. Seal the bag and place in a bowl. Let marinate at room temperature for 1 hour.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together the panko with the Parmesan, olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt in a shallow baking dish or pie plate.
  3. For the dipping sauce: Stir together the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, honey and Dijon in a small bowl and set aside.
  4. Preheat a 3.5-quart air fryer to 390 degrees F. Remove 1 piece of chicken at a time from the bag, shaking off excess buttermilk. Place in the panko and press gently with your hands to adhere the panko evenly. Gently shake to remove the excess and place in the air fryer basket. Repeat with enough chicken to fill the basket (about 4 pieces) and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 7 minutes on each side. Repeat with the remaining chicken and serve warm with the dipping sauce.

Really tasty. I was out if Worcestershire so I added onion powder, garlic powder, salt and cayenne pepper to the buttermilk. Just saying YES!

These are delicious! And the honey mustard sauce is the bomb!

Some personal changes. I would have like a little more Worcestershire Sauce, and to pepper the breading.

Thank you, FNK. These chickens tenders are more like the ones I make in shallow quick fry skillet and finish in oven on a pan with a rack. So hard to believe they are made with just a hot air method. My older son likes this kind the best because he feels they are healthier. When eating them with a slightly oil texture it makes him feel like he is eating poison. He cannot seem to get past the greasy foods. Honestly, I love a greasy salty fried up thingy, but only a bite or two because I’m not completely irresponsible .. yet. 🙂

I made these tonight and they were delicious!! I didn’t have buttermilk so I mixed milk with 1tsp lemon juice. I had chicken breast so I cut into some fat tenders, like 4-5 pieces. Made the marinade and let sit out for 1 hour. Dipped in panko mixture and cooked in air fryer for 14 mins flipping halfway through. They’re so good!!!!!! And moist! My husband said make sure you write this recipe down.
