Ingredients
- 2 ounces simple syrup (2 ounces sugar and 2 ounces water)
- 2 medium slices fresh lemon, plus extra for garnish
- 1 1/2 ounces Gentleman Jack bourbon
- Ice
- 1 ounce Triple sec or Cointreau
- splash of club soda.
Instructions
- In a small sauce pan over high heat, combine sugar and water and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and cool. In a mixing glass, muddle lemon, add bourbon, simple syrup, ice, and triple sec. Shake and pour into a Collins glass, finished with a splash of soda on top. Squeeze a lemon slice on top.
- When we did this in the food processor, it was hard to get the sourdough pretzels to the right shape.
Reviews
Excellent but a bit sweet will reduce the simple syrup for my second one.
I used whiskey and not bourbon since that is what I had on hand….but came out great/will make it again!
This drink is fantastic (semantics aside, the “bourbon mistake” caught my eye right away too). This is insanely superior to the traditional Lynchburg Lemonade recipe as I’ve always found sour mix just not all that appealing. In my book any time a recipe uses fresh fruit it will always top something made with a prepackaged mixer.
Jack Daniels (including Gentleman Jack is NOT bourbon. It is a type of whiskey, but it is not bourbon. So, the recipe is incorrect when it refers to the Gentleman Jack as ‘bourbon’, but it’s perfectly fine that it’s called Tennessee Lemonade since Jack is made in Tennessee! Sounds tasty, will be trying it this weekend!
And what is this in the instructions: “When we did this in the food processor, it was hard to get the sourdough pretzels to the right shape.”? I think that’s in the wrong recipe…

Since bourbon is, by definition, from Kentucky shouldn’t this be called “Kentucky Lemonade”? (smile)
Good stuff but real Lynceburgh Lemonade is better
1 part Jack Daniel’s, 1 part triple sec, 1 part sour mix and 4 parts lemon-lime soda.
.
Who would expect anything less from THE MAN !!
