Quick and Easy Horchata

Making horchata quickly like this avoids having to soak the rice the night before. It tastes excellent and is simple!

Ingredients

  1. 1 gallon water
  2. 1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick
  3. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  4. 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  5. 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
  6. 3 tablespoons rice flour
  7. ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  8. ½ cup sugar, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine water and cinnamon stick in a pitcher. Set aside.
  2. Combine condensed milk, evaporated milk, rice flour, ground cinnamon, and sugar in a blender; blend on high speed for 1 to 2 minutes until well blended.
  3. Add milk mixture to pitcher of water and stir until fully incorporated. Serve over ice or chilled.

To me it was not real horchata, it lacked the rice flavor. I omitted the sugar since it was plenty sweet with the SCM. Thanks for the recipe.
