Although there isn’t much to this, kids adore it.

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups elbow macaroni
  2. 1 pound ground beef
  3. 1 (14 ounce) jar pizza sauce
  4. 1 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce
  5. 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  6. 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until cooked through but firm to the bite, 8 minutes. Drain.
  3. Cook and stir ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until meat is crumbly and browned, about 10 minutes; drain excess grease.
  4. Mix cooked ground beef, macaroni, pizza sauce, tomato sauce, and mushrooms in a bowl. Layer half the macaroni mixture into a 9×12-inch baking dish; top with 1/2 the mozzarella cheese. Layer remaining macaroni mixture over the top; sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese over macaroni mixture. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven until cheese has melted and casserole is bubbling, about 35 minutes. Let cool for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.

This was great as written. Last night 3 adults ate and liked it. I was testing the waters to see if I thought my 4 grandchildren (ages2-8) would eat it. I plan to put it out today beside our Easter lunch- pretty sure the two younger ones will go for it! Easy to make!

Easy, quick, gluten free version with Aldis GF pasta. Pasta holds up well and isn’t mushy!

Easy meal. Kids loved it. I added pepperoni to the recipe. Makes great left overs.

I found it a bit bland and think it could use some Italian seasoning mixed with the sauces to make it taste more like pizza, which I will do if I make it again. Prepared as directed but without mushrooms, my husband loved it and said he’ll eat it. Due to illness he doesn’t eat much and has lost too much weight so I’m happy if he eats something substantial like this. This recipe made a lot for our family of 2, so I packaged several individual portions and froze for future work lunches.

Good comfort food, but I wouldn’t say it tasted like pizza. I added garlic and fresh basil and dried oregano hoping to achieve that, but no luck. It was easy and tasty, though.

Good starter recipe. Like many others, I made a few changes. We don’t like mushrooms, so those went. I used a pound of ground mild Italian sausage rather than ground beef. I also added some chopped pepperoni (safer for little ones than slices). Can be topped with bacon crumbles if desired. Makes it a bit of a meat lovers pizza recipe. Serve with salad to get at least some veggies into the meal.

It is a great crowd pleaser

Add seasoning to meat when I cooked it, and cut up pepperoni and mixed into noodle mixture. Good????

I tried it as it was written, and I think it’s perfect. My guests and I all loved it.

Great easy enough recipe. We do not have kids, but my wife and I really enjoyed it. I used Italian sausage instead of hamburger and forgot the mushrooms. Next batch will have mushrooms and black olives.

Very delicious for the kids and after I pureed it (mouth cancer) it was great for me too. Top.

good but not amazing

Pretty good. I made half of the recipe and it was still quite a lot for 2 people. I think it would have been better with double the meat and saucier. It did come out very similar to goulash which I fondly remember eating all the time as a kid. I also liked how customizable this was, just like a pizza. Neither of us like cooked mushrooms so I did green pepper and black olives.

Iin addition to the ingredients listed i seasoned the ground meat while it was browning. I added quartered pepperoni and roughly chopped bacon pieces. I also added about 3 a little more sauce for a little more moisture. Sprinkled with mozzarella and Monterey mix. I tented the foil so not to rip off that good cheese when finished

Needed a little more sauce

I doubled the gluten free macaroni and put it in a larger dish. I added a onion instead of mushrooms. I added garlic and garnished it with parsley to give it a little color. I think I’ll try more pizza sauce and less tomato sauce. Also, I think I will add some pizza seasoning so it taste more like pizza. My family really loved it! My hubby had 3 servings!!

it was awesome and easy to make

The kids love it! The only change I had shredded Cheddar rather than Mozzarella !

I made this for my son when he was a little boy and he loved it. Now he is a senior in high school and when I asked what he wanted to eat for NYE he said pizza casserole… I did make it a more “grown up” version by using turkey Italian sausage instead of the ground beef and I also added peppers, onion, fresh mushroom and pepperoni. This is such an easy recipe to customize.

This was easy to make and my one year old LOVED it. I’ve been looking for good recipes for him and this is one I will keep. I LOVE how you can add different ingredients to it such as bacon, pepperoni or peppers and it’ll still taste great!
