Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- Peel of 1 whole lemon, pith removed
Instructions
- Combine the sugar with 3 cups of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat and add the lemon juice. Pour the mixture into 3 ice cube trays and set aside to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes. Place the trays in the freezer to harden, 4 to 8 hours depending on your freezer.
- When ready to serve, add the ice cubes and the lemon peel to a food processor and pulse until the ice is fluffy and broken down. Serve with a straw and a spoon, and be prepared to be whisked away to the summer streets of Chicago.

Best frozen lemonade I’ve ever had!!!!
After cooling down the mixture I made it in my ice cream maker. Just like snow! Fantastic. Can’t wait to start experimenting with the different flavors like on Taylor Street!
This recipe is perfect for the hot summer days. The recipe is easy, as my 12 year old did much of the work. Be sure to leave in freezer for the full time listed. My family thought the flavor was too sour and they didn’t even have any zest in their servings. So next time around I may add more sugar or less lemon juice to tone down the lemon a bit.
