There’s nothing wrong with this recipe. I, too, thought it was going to be watery but took my whisk and thoroughly blended the paste, oil and water in increments because it was starting to look watery. It turned into a perfect blend. The seasoning was perfect. I like fennel so did add that. Had enough for 2 pizzas and will make it again. We live in a small condo without a lot of storage and it was nice to have a recipe that didn’t feed 12.
Extremely dissatisfied with this recipe.
Food network obviously doesn’t care about its readers/watchers: people have been commenting SINCE 2010 THAT THE PROPORTIONS ARE TOTALLY OFF. WAY TOO MUCH WATER, WAY TOO MUCH OIL. OVER AND OVER PEOPLE ARE TELLING FOOD NETWORK TO FIX THIS RECIPE SO THAT PEOPLE DON’T WASTE THEIR MONEY AND TIME ON THIS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE RECIPE. The 3 1/2 stars come from people who change the proportions and ingredients so that they’re not cooking the recipe as it stands. So the stars are meaningless. Read the comments before you try this!!!!
I have used this recipe for a couple of years. It is fast, easy, and delicious.
Terrible, don’t waste your ingredients!
Tweaked it til it was good. 6oz to.paste, 1/2 c Portuguese Olive Oil, and 3/4 c water. The rest was the same. Came out awesome. I was even licking my fingers straight out of the bowl. I only added water little by little. My sauce was in between thick and thin. Good consistency. Just gotta play around a bit.
terrible recipe. don’t try it. way too watery
Thanks Cat Cora. We just wasted our ingredients because we didn’t read the comments and your proportions are R-O-N-G WRONG!

Food Network…Get this fixed!!!
Portions are wrong. Say “cans” instead of “cups”.
Portions are way off. I had to triple the tomato paste to fix it.
