Ingredients

  1. Garlic-flavored olive oil
  2. 1 (1-pound) ball frozen pizza dough, thawed and at room temperature
  3. 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  4. 1/2 cup whole milk ricotta
  5. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  6. 2 teaspoons chopped fresh oregano leaves, plus more for garnish

Instructions

  1. Special equipment: 14-inch round pizza pan
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Adjust the oven rack to the lower third of the oven.
  3. Brush the pizza pan with oil. On a work surface, using your hands, press the pizza dough into a large flat disk and transfer it to the greased pan. Using your fingers, press the dough out until it has stretched to the perimeter of the pan. Create a dough “lip” around the outer edges of the pan. Brush the entire surface of the dough lightly with garlic oil and pierce the bottom of the crust all over with a fork, to prevent bubbling.
  4. Evenly spread the mozzarella over the crust. Using 2 spoons, dollop teaspoon-sized mounds of ricotta evenly over the mozzarella. Season with salt and pepper, to taste, and evenly sprinkle the chopped oregano over the top.
  5. Bake in the lower third of the oven until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly and browning on top, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool on the pan for 10 minutes before garnishing with additional oregano and slicing into 8 pieces.
  6. Cook’s Note: Try buying fresh pizza dough from your local pizzeria; just be sure to let it sit out at room temperature for a few minutes, as warmer dough is easier to work with.

I’ve been using this recipe as is and it’s a winner! Everyone always thinks I ordered the pizza. Simply delicious!

This recipe wasn’t very good as is.  It definitely needed to be doctored up every step of the way

Instead of garlic olive oil, I finely minced 3 lg. cloves of garlic and added it to the ricotta.  Seasonings were on top of the mozzarella.  Add-ons could include banana peppers, peeled, raw shrimp (last 8-10 min.), halved cherry tomatoes, bacon pieces, pesto, onions, fresh mushrooms, a dusting of Parmesan cheese on top of the ricotta.  Fantastic pizza, a keeper.

This was good, however next time I will put the ricotta under the cheese topping. I missed the cheesy chew by having the ricotta on top. I also added homemade pesto to the ricotta for extra flavor:)

Yummy! I made this for lunch today and my husband and boys loved it. I made garlic olive oil by gently warming about a cup of olive oil with 6 cloves of crushed garlic for about 1/2 hour. (I will use the rest to try the croutonsThe flavor was amazing! I used the Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust on a large cookie sheet. I followed the directions on the package and set the temperature at 425° for 20 minutes and had a nice crispy crust throughout with perfectly melted cheeses.

Very good recipe – I added some minced garlic and garlic powder because I didn’t have garlic EVOO, along with some onions and parmesan cheese on top. Total hit with my husband – a keeper!

This recipe was delicious. I added some jalapeno chicken sausage I had and used fontonella cheese and made my own garlic oil and it was amazing! Definitely one I’ll make again!

I saw Claire make this recipe on the Cooking Channel a long time back and I would swear that she put thyme leaves on it instead of oregano. That’s the way I made it and it was amazing! Or am I losing my mind????

On the subject of garlic oil, I just did what rltranscriptionist did and made my own. I sauteed some garlic cloves in EVOO and it was perfect.

The only OTHER thing I did with this recipe to put it over the top was to sprinkle some freshly grated parmesano reggiano cheese over the top. Very lightly. Gave it a nice little crusty feel and a fantastic flavor! So now, it’s a SIX ingredient fix! LOL!

Very good! I could not find garlic olive oil so I sauteed two cloves of garlic in regular olive oil and it worked fine. It had just a hint of garlic flavor, so I think I will try hard to find some actual garlic olive oil for next time, because I think it will make a big difference. I could not find fresh pizza dough so I used Pillsbury pizza crust. Do not use this crust for this pizza! It tastes too sweet and tastes just like canned biscuits, which does not go well with the savory flavors. I will definitely not make this again without fresh pizza dough.

Also, a little tip for the ricotta cheese, let it set out about 20 minutes before you use it. I used it straight from the fridge and it didn’t melt completely on the pizza like I would have liked.

Overall, super easy and very tasty!!
