Ingredients

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup cornmeal
  3. 4 teaspoons ground cumin
  4. 2 teaspoons onion powder
  5. 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  6. 2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves, crushed
  7. 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  8. 1 teaspoon salt
  9. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, cornmeal, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne, salt, and black pepper in a large resealable bag. Shake well to combine.
  2. To use: Remove 1/2 cup of the mixture and place in a smaller resealable bag. Cut chicken (or desired meat) into serving pieces and place into the bag, a few at a time. Shake until well covered.

Such a great, cost-effective idea to make this at home. I always feel like I’m wasting so much from the store-bought packets. This way I can just use a small amount at a time. For my tastes, this needed for salt (but I appreciate the lower-sodium aspect), and I would probably cut the cumin in half next time, as it is a prominent flavor. So glad I stumbled across this recipe!
