Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium white onion, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon freshly minced ginger
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- Coarse salt
- Two 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- Four whole-wheat hamburger buns, split and toasted
- Fresh cilantro sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion and ginger and saute until they begin to slightly brown, about 5 minutes. Add the chicken and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until cooked through. Add the garam masala, turmeric and a good pinch of salt and saute another 2 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and honey; continue to let simmer until slightly reduced and thickened, another 5 minutes. Give it another good pinch of salt to taste.
- Serve with buns and garnish with fresh cilantro sprigs.
