Instructions
- Cut 1 pound pizza dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 12-inch-long rope and wrap around a hot dog. Arrange on a lightly oiled baking sheet, loosely cover and set aside at room temperature until puffy, 45 minutes. Bring 3 quarts water, 1/2 cup baking soda and 2 tablespoons kosher salt to a boil. Boil the wrapped dogs in batches, turning once, 1 minute. Transfer to baking sheet; brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with kosher salt and bake at 400 degrees F until browned, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with mustard.

I make these all the time, so good! Boiling them in the baking soda is what makes them a pretzel. Definitely worth trying if you haven’t already.
Worst recipe ever! We tried this twice in case we misunderstood or missed a step. What is the purpose of boiling wrapped dog for 1 minute before baking? Soggy mess (and it was only boiled 1 minute) but we brushed with egg, salted and baked according to instructions. Would not recommend nor would we make again. We will stick with our fool-proof, crescent roll wrapped dogs.
