Ingredients
- Kosher salt
- 2 pounds green beans, trimmed
- 1/4 cup Garlic Oil, recipe follows
- 2 tablespoons red chile paste, such as gochujang
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to broil.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and season generously with salt. Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl. Blanch the green beans in the boiling water until tender but still crisp, about 2 minutes. Drain and immediately shock in the ice bath. Drain the beans and pat dry well.
- Add the Garlic Oil, chile paste, honey and salt to taste to a large bowl. Add the green beans and toss to coat. Transfer to 2 baking sheets and broil until brown and blistered in spots, 5 to 7 minutes. Serve immediately.
- Combine the olive oil and garlic in a small saucepan. Turn the heat to medium low and gently poach the garlic for 5 minutes; the oil should be at a very bare simmer but not boiling, otherwise the garlic will burn. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely. Once cool, discard the garlic.

These were spicy AND amazing! I might tinker with the amount of oil but man they were good.
I love these green beans! They are sweet, spicy, and easy to make, what’s not to love???
Sweet and spicy. Would make it again
Easy and super delicious! Not too spicy and absolutely lip smacking good! I could easily eat just these beans for dinner! Thanks!
These are SO good!! Had some green beans that I forgot I had and needed to use in a hurry. I didn’t have any of the chili paste so I subbed hoisin sauce and Sriracha and they came out great! I will definitely make these again!
Amazing use of green beans! Sweet, spicy, perfect! Will make again and again!
Made this for dinner last night. I added some mushrooms and it was so good! I love finding easy, healthy week night recipes!Regards Mastercakes.com
Another fabulous reason to eat my veggies! I needed to put the beans under the broiler on two sheets and I think they would have gotten burnt faster and saved the crunch. Clean plate club tonight.
Loved it! My picky husband had seconds. Easy too!
My first time using Gochujang – won’t be the last! The honey provides the perfect sweet to heat balance, and although I thought the heat would be more prominent, it really behaved! I might try some chopped toasted walnuts next time for some crunch. I’ll be making this for company…
