Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Pinch crushed red pepper
- 2 slices bread
- 1 tablespoon plus 1/4 cup marinara sauce, warmed
- 2 slices mozzarella
- 2 slices provolone
- 2 ounces pepperoni
- 1 mini sweet pepper, sliced thin
- 1 to 2 tablespoons black olives
- 4 fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the butter, Parmesan, Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper. Brush one side of each slice of bread with this mixture.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Lay one piece of the bread, butter-side down, in the skillet. Spread 1 tablespoon marinara sauce on the bread and layer on the mozzarella, provolone, pepperoni, pepper slices, olives and basil leaves. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up. Toast in the skillet, flipping as needed, until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted, 4 to 5 minutes.
- Remove from the skillet and slice in half. Serve with the remaining 1/4 cup marinara on the side.

This was fantastic but the huge advertisement in the middle of the printed recipe wasn’t fantastic! It used too much ink and paper. Plus has a terrible appearance for a recipe!
I absolutely loved it and I’m 12 and I made it for my family and they loved it
Super fast and easy to adapt to ingredients on hand.
Easy delicious sandwich. The butter combo on the bread is what makes it so good!
I really love this recipe but instead of using marinara I used Alfredo sauce because I like that sauce way better than marinara!
Made these last night for my husband and grandson. They loved them! Grandson can’t wait for me to make them again. The compound butter took them over the top!
I wish I knew what kind of bread she used. I used regular sandwich bread and it came out soggy. Maybe I put more butter than i should on it.
