Pan Fried Walleye Entree

Ingredients

  1. 6 to 8 ounces Walleye fillet
  2. Breading mix, 1 part lemon pepper, 3 parts flour
  3. Egg, slightly beaten
  4. Vegetable oil
  5. 3 ounces steamed mixed vegetables
  6. Choice of rice blend, kettle chips, French fries, seasoned fries or Split Rock Home Fries
  7. Leaf lettuce
  8. Lemon crown

Instructions

  1. Place fillet in the beaten egg. Remove. Thoroughly coat in breading. Place in heated frying pan with 3/4-inch of oil in it. Cook until golden brown. Flip and repeat. Place on plate on a bed of leaf lettuce. Add vegetables and choice of starch. Garnish with lemon crown.

The fish turned out crispy on the outside and delic on the inside. Will do this recipe again. Being a recipe follower, I would have liked it to show oil temp. and approximate time to fry the fish. I punted (oil at 370 degrees or about) and, surprisingly, it turned out great!

Except for grilling which I’m good at, this was a good starter recipe for me. I used only breadcrumbs on one fillet and added some basil and oregano to the breadcrumbs for the other. Wonderful dinner. Moving from Chicago to Minnesota, I plan on cooking walleye often now. Especially after using this recipe. Thanks!
