Chocolate-covered orange peel is a classic festive sweet. The citrus zest is simmered in water and sugar until tender. Then, the peels are tossed in sugar, cooled and dipped in melted chocolate. The hardest part is waiting for the chocolate to set before eating them!

Ingredients
- 3 oranges
- 3 cups sugar, plus more for tossing
- Melted chocolate, for coating
Instructions
- Cut off the peel from 3 oranges, then cut the peels into strips.
- Bring a saucepan of water to a boil, then add the strips and cook for 15 minutes; drain and rinse.
- In a separate saucepan, bring the sugar and 3 cups water to a simmer. Add the peels and cook until soft, about 45 minutes. Drain and toss in sugar to coat. Transfer to a rack to dry, about 8 hours.
- Dip the dried orange peels in melted chocolate and let set completely.
