Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes, washed
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a baking sheet in the oven.
- On a cutting board, slice the sweet potatoes in half lengthwise. Slice each half into 6 wedges. Place wedges in a large bowl, add canola oil, season with salt and pepper, to taste, and toss to coat.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Place the fries onto the baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Turn the fries and bake for another 15 minutes until brown and crispy. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve.

Delicious! I cut my fries thinner than Sandra’s recipe directed and I also sprinkled some cinnamon mine.

These are the best sweet potato fries I have ever made………….. the swt taters cut very easy using my crinkle cutter and I made them more in the shape of regular french fries. I used Mrs. Dash extra spicy seasoning an cooked them for 45 minutes. They were crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The key was the preheated pan. Thank you Sandra……another winner.
I found this recipe to be very easy, delicious and fast. I will no longer buy bagged sweet potato fries. No reason to when you can make them fresh yourself in the same amount of time for less money. Preheating the pan is the trick to getting them crispy.
6 thick wedges cook to baked sweet potato consistency. I might try again with much thinner wedges so they crisp. A hotter oven may help. Kosher salt is a coarser grind and makes a little salt stand out and go a long way. Improves the taste and cuts down on salt use. Sandra’s staff needs more time testing this in the kitchen.
I saw this recipe on the show when it aired. I made them the following weekend. I have to say that they are a family favorite. My 7 yr old and 18 month old can not get enough of them.
Preheating the pan is the trick to making the fries nice and crispy.
I’ve tried swet potato fries before but they usually come out mushy. This time I tried heating up the pan and I think that was what did the trick. Also, I sliced mine pretty thin so they could have more crisp on them. My family loved them although one child them to be too mushy but that is the nature of sweet potatoes. Thanks to reading the reviews here I understood that slicing them would be tough–they were more so than regular potatoes but I used my chef’s knife and it was fine. I will make these again–very easy!
This is such a good base recipe. We just loved this side dish. I will experiment with spices just for fun but these sweet potatoe fries are just delicious as Sandra Lee dictates in her recipe. Yummy!
This is cheap and easy to make. I pair it with Sandra’s Black Bean Burgers and it makes for a healthy “comfort food” meal!
I have done this recipe a few times now and our family just loves them. Yes the potatoes are hard to slice (the nature of the beast) and they tend to stick to the pan for turning. I found if you wait till they are browned on the bottom they will let loose a little better. But I do use more oil than called for to help with that. BTW crispy is not crispy like McDonalds fries. These will tend to be browned on the outer layer but still soft on the inside. And for the kids pass the Ranch Dressing. Great way to add lots of good for you stuff to the kiddos diets!
