Ingredients

  1. 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into even French fry shapes (slightly larger than 1/4-inch batons)
  2. 2 tablespoons olive oil
  3. 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  4. 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  5. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  6. 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  7. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  8. Ranch Dressing, recipe follows
  9. 3 tablespoons buttermilk
  10. 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  11. 2 tablespoons sour cream
  12. 1/2 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  13. 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  14. 1 clove garlic, minced
  15. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  16. Dash of hot sauce
  17. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  18. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Put the sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Add the olive oil and toss to coat. Stir together the cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, 3/4 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of black pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle the spice mixture over the sweet potatoes and toss to coat.
  3. Arrange the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet in a single layer, leaving as much space between the fries as possible. Bake, turning once about three-quarters of the way through, until the edges are browned and crispy, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
  4. Serve the warm fries with the Ranch Dressing.
  5. Add the buttermilk, mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, onion powder, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and hot sauce to a food processor. Pulse to combine until smooth. Add the parsley and dill and pulse to incorporate, 4 to 5 times. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Pour into a serving bowl.

Loved these!!! And the seasonings were perfect,

We ate them up in a few minutes including the sauce. The seasoning was perfect. I think I’ll spray the pan next time or turn them more often. When making the sauce, I almost doubled it because of the small amount it made, but it turned out to be plenty. The sauce complimented the seasoned fries wonderfully. My husband wants them as part of our thanksgiving meal from now on. I used them as an appetizer and will again. Yum!

We make a garlic aioli instead of the ranch sauce so I can’t comment on that but these fries are amazing and easy to make. The only way we make sweet potato fries now!

These are the best homemade fries EVER! The seasoning translate to regular potatoes or any other vegetable. Finally a home fry to write home about!

These were very yummy and I would definitely make them again. I added salt and pepper after the fries were already on the sheet pan (so not to the spice mix) but before they went into the oven. Also mine took around 35 minutes to get brown and crispy. Didn’t make the sauce.

Delish but next time will salt to taste after baking.

These were really good, they were actually crispier than other recipes I’ve tried.  You could change up the seasoning to your taste, I’ll try smoked paprika, cumin, and cinnamon next time.  Very easy and tasty.

Best baked sweet potato fries recipe that I have tried to date. Keeper. Didn’t make the side sauce. Had aioli on hand.
