Super Easy Oven-Baked Garlic-Parmesan Fries

  4.8 – 17 reviews  • Baked French Fries

Once you realize how simple and tasty it is to make fries at home, you won’t want to buy them from anyone else again. In contrast to the bread crumbs, oil, and salt, you can truly taste the potatoes. Add whatever additional spices you choose.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 45 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 3 tablespoons olive oil
  2. 3 medium russet potatoes, or more to taste, sliced into even strips
  3. 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  4. 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  5. 1 tablespoon onion powder
  6. ½ tablespoon paprika
  7. 1 teaspoon salt, or more to taste
  8. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pour olive oil into a large resealable plastic bag and add potatoes. Seal the bag and shake to coat every piece with oil.
  3. Combine Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a second resealable bag. Pour oiled potatoes into the bag, seal, and toss well to coat.
  4. Spread potatoes on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Flip potatoes over and bake until crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, about 15 minutes more.

I thought the spices overpowered the potatoes. Someone mentioned making wedges, that might taste better, or use less spice, or double the potatoes. I cooked extra time, but still not really crunchy on the outside.

I am going to use only half of the parmesan cheese next time I make these. They were very, very good.

This recipe is AWESOME! It doesn’t hurt your stomach and it tastes great! I used all of the ingredients that it said to use, and it turned out great. Although, I did change a couple of things, like I just eye-balled the measurements for the spices. When they came out of the oven, I lined a bowl with paper towels and served them in that bowl to reduce the amount of oil. Great recipe!

If you read again, as I did, it refers in the comments to tasting the potato instead of bread crumbs. I think it means that this recipe does NOT contain bread crumbs so one tastes more of the potato.

For the garlic parmesan fries it mentions bread crumbs….does it have it in the recipe? candyroaster@hotmail.com would appreciate an answer. Thank you in advance.

The recipe is AWESOME prepared as is. Tastes really good! But I have one question…. where do you get that French fry holder? It looks ceramic. It’s just the right thing! Would love to have one.

Very good! To be mindful of plastic which is banned from my kitchen, I just do the mixing with oil and spices in a bowl.
