Ingredients
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 teaspoons mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 2 pounds flank steak, cut into thin strips
- 32 wooden skewers (8 inch long) soaked in water
Instructions
- In a large resealable bag, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, water, molasses, mustard powder, ginger, garlic powder and onion powder. Seal and shake the bag to mix together. Add steak strips to the bag and seal. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours to marinate.
- Preheat the oven’s broiler. Thread meat onto skewers and place on a broiling rack.
- Broil the steak for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Arrange on a platter to serve.
- This recipe can also be made on the grill with the same amount of cooking time.

I made this with flank steak AND chicken thighs. Both were a huge it. I marinaded both overnight. I cooked the chicken on 350 for 30 minutes first and then put the skewers on the grill. The steak went right on the grill. I brushed both with more marinade while they were on the grill. This is my new go-to marinade. Note: I used low sodium soy sauce.
Turned out delicious. I made a half size portion and used angus sirloin steak strips. I used dijon mustard not powder and regular soy sauce and I added 1 or 2 tablespoons brown sugar as recommended in the reviews and it came out great. I also soaked my bamboo skewers to reduce burning. I will make this again for a celebration. It’s super easy and tasty.

This was a pretty good recipe. Taste was there as I marinated the meat overnight but the flank steak was too chewy. Id substitute thin slices of London broil instead of flank steak. Otherwise this was a really great marinade. Oh and I added 8 cloves of chopped garlic to it because we love garlic.
These are the first kebabs I’ve ever made and they were amazing! I used brown sugar in place of the molasses as I saw suggested here and they were sooo good! This will be my go-to kebab recipe from now on!
This was real good and easy, only thing you need to watch out for is not to overcook it. I have gas stove and put under the broiler. I should have cut the time by a min. It cooks fast and mine was a tad bit overcooked for my taste. But flavor is great.
My family doesn’t like ginger or mustard, so I had to leave them out of the recipe. I forgot to start marinading on time and only marinated for about 6 hours, and it was still delicious! Thanks for a recipe that will be a “keeper” in my household!

I make my own terriyaki marinaded quite often and a little tip for anyone when making this for sweetening is brown sugar and pineapple juice. pineapple juice is fantastic to sweeten and tenderize the meat.
This is a very good recipe, that said for the longest time I thought something was missing from it. Some bit of flavor that should be there that was missing. I finally found that flavor. Add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper and a teaspoon of oregano. The flavor really comes to life.

Marinated overnight using NY Strip steak. Awesome served with simple fried rice. Also added to a salad the next day which was very good.

I have made this recipe a few times. I always use the regular soy sauce and double the recipe. after I marinade the meat ( i do marinade overnight ) and skewer them I put them in single layer with parchment and then put them in freezer bags ( uncooked ) and that way all month I can take out what I want that night ( still frozen and right in the oven ). when I am done with the marinade I do make a few of them with pasta and the left over marinade. this recipe is better then any restaurant I’ve ever had these. and they are still nice and juicy. not dried out like the restaurant. yes a little salty but I do like that. I think this recipe is perfect as is.
