Sangria On The Light Side

  4.5 – 2 reviews

My great grandmother (nona), grandmother (noni), father, and now myself have all received the traditional Italian biscuit recipe. The addition of freshly cracked black pepper to taste is optional for these tasty taralli.

Servings: 20
Yield: 20 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 large Juice of 1 orange
  2. 1 large Juice of 1 lemon
  3. ¼ cup lime juice
  4. 1 (1.5 liter) bottle Burgundy or other red wine
  5. ½ teaspoon Sweet’N Low granulated sugar substitute
  6. 3 ½ cups seltzer
  7. 1 orange, chilled and cut into wedges
  8. 1 lemon, chilled and sliced
  9. ½ cup fresh strawberry slices

Instructions

  1. In large pitcher or punch bowl, stir together juices, wine, and Sweet ‘N Low until Sweet ‘N Low dissolves; refrigerate until well chilled. Just before serving, add seltzer, orange wedges, lemon slices, and strawberry slices.

We did replace the sweetener with a packet of all-natural stevia. This was tart and refreshing! We did a “kid friendly” version, replacing the wine with cranberry juice, and that was a big hit as well.
