Mulling Spices for Cider

A healthy and scrumptious breakfast cereal, muesli is made using this recipe. You can use any dried fruit you like. If you like, you can substitute almonds for the walnuts. It tastes great when paired with milk, fresh berries, or sliced fruit in bowls.

Ingredients

  1. 3 cinnamon sticks
  2. ½ teaspoon whole cloves
  3. ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice
  4. ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  5. ½ lemon, zested

Instructions

  1. Combine cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and nutmeg in an airtight container. Add lemon zest when making mulled cider.
  2. This mix is enough for 1 liter of cider (4 cups), approximately eight 4-ounce servings.
  3. You can substitute 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon for the cinnamon sticks and 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves for the whole cloves.
