This is my go to chili seasoning. EXCEPT I omit the flour and the sugar. No need for that. And I would be cautionary about a tablespoon of crushed red pepper. Lol. I use about a half teaspoon.
I really like this recipe! Good blend of spices. I omit the flour and sugar though.
I use chili hot beans which thickens my chili, so I skipped the flour. Awesome spice mix. Great color, too. Use more or less cayenne, don’t be afraid to have fun and be flexible. I even put some redfish blackening spices in it. 🙂
A perfect combination of spices! This worked so well when I paired it with Debdoozies Blue Ribbon Chili from this site. The best chili I have ever made, and I will be making this mix again and again.
This is the best! The only thing I changed was I added adobo instead of salt. Will never buy prepackaged again. Hubs approved!
This is a great chili seasoning mix. I only made one batch and used it all for 4 pounds of beef and the fixings. Next time I’ll make a big batch and have it on hand.
It was very good. I used it for a chorizo chili and it made it taste way better then a prepackage seasoning.
Very good Chili Seasoning Mix. I will never again buy a packet. Thank you!
Never buying packaged mix again. I reduced the flour to 2 Tbsp. and omitted the sugar. It turned out amazing. Just an FYI TIP — 6 “servings” of spice mix works best with 1.5 or 2 pounds of ground beef.
I normally have a packet of chili seasoning in the cupboard, but not today! I quickly searched Allrecipes and found something to make with what I had in the spice bins. Easy, quick and very tasty. I held back on the chili peppers, because of my grandchildren, but this turned out excellent! Thanks!
This seasoning is pretty spicy. Cut the crushed red pepper to a teaspoon if you aren’t wanting spicy chili. Still very flavorful! I’ll repeat this one
Just made apot. my first pot of chili. I think it came out GREAT So Excited. now i have tons for as much chili as i want to make.
I use this recipe everytime I make chili. Everybody loves it!
Great chili mix! My family loves it. We are gluten free so I substitute gluten free all purpose flour for regular flour and omit the sugar. This suits us great!
I really like this mixture. I use 2 tbs per 1# of ground beef. I left out the flour and add 1/2 cup of wine, beer or water. Excellent combination of spices and herbs!
This tasted great- just a little spicy for the kiddos, but they powered through (I rinsed the 2 year-old of a little). Didn’t have bay leaves or mustard powder, but looking forward to adding it next time. This is a keeper for sure! I’m not even sad that French’s Chili-O got discontinued anymore!
The mix had great flavor. It was just not spicy enough for me. For those that complained about the flour, cook the seasoning with the ground beef as you would with gravy. Problem solved.
This is the best chili mix I have ever had. My family absolutely loved the chili I made with this. It’s also easy to throw together while browning the meat or make in advance and store.
It has a nice kick to it. I skip the flour though
I omitted the flour and upped the garlic and onion. Used entire recipe for one batch of vegan chili: 1-15 oz can each of black beans, dark red kidney beans and hominy and one 28 oz can of chopped tomatoes. Added one package of impossible ground. My meat eating husband loved it!
It’s a bit to spicy for me. I will probably reduce the amount of red pepper flakes quite a bit next time. Otherwise it’s good.
