Reviews
I love these hot dogs but have trouble with inside dough not being done. Went by directions on crescent roll package. I’m going to try to preheat dough next time and turn temp. up.
I boiled the hot dogs first, added extra cheese , some fried onions, & sprinkled garlic salt on the dough…..tasty.
Great recipe!
I took the other reviewers word about the soggy bottoms so I put a sheet pan lined in foil in the oven when I preheated it. That took care of soggy bottom problem. Thank goodness for the foil because the cheese oozed out everywhere. I also placed the hot dogs on a plate and microwaved for 2 minutes before assembling. I prepared everything on a separate pan then placed them on the preheated pan. I baked them for 15 minutes which left them just a wee bit soggy in the middle. I should have gone about 17 minutes. I then topped them with hot dog chili which is bad as chili but great on a hot dog and a bit of shredded cheddar cheese. Next time I will try using 2 cans of crescent rolls. Instead of using 1 diagonal per dog I’ll use 2 left in a rectangle. It will certainly need more baking time so I will leave in the oven until it’s a little darker than normal. I will also use a better quality hot dog and roll it up with a couple long red onion slices. I might even brush a little garlic butter on them before baking
I made this with cheese sausages and it was double delicious with the additional cheese stuffed into them. I baked them for 20 minutes.
Super easy recipe! I used thick shredded cheddar cheese. Served with ketchup and mustard.
I made these with bun-length all beef hot dogs and pepper Jack cheese. I typically hate hot dogs, but these were really good!
These are great for a cheap, easy dinner. They just need to be cooked at a lower temp in order to cook the hot dogs and the crescent rolls evenly. 325 works perfect for me.
Very easy, dogs heated well (since they’re already cooked) cheese melted into a oozing deliciousness- definately making again
My 22 yr old son requested these as we had them when he was a kid. They are still as good now as they were years ago! Quick and easy to make.
These are great but definitely use cheddar cheese instead of American. It stuffs into the hotdog so much easier and tastes better too
I love them! Although, they’re called pigs in a blanket. I’m sure you’ve heard that name, now you can put a name to the face.
It turned out great. Thank you for the recipe!
Yum! I knew the basics of piggies in the blanket but needed cooking time information. Crescent rolls are delicious in any cooking dish !! Tasty and the Fam loved them!
Easy and delicious recipe.
To really make this over the top, either grill the hot dogs before wrapping or heat in microwave. This prevents the uncooked dough usually under the dog! Also, take about one tablespoon of Kraft Original BBQ sauce and spoon along top of hot dog, spreading over the hot dog. Kids will go wild! PS. Also, adults really like adding. Cooked sweet onion strips added to this dog. In skillet with a touch of oil, cook up either rings or diced sweet onion until soft and carmelized. To speed this up be sure oil is pretty warm to start and as it gets hot add a tiny bit of hot water, put lid on skillet to soften onions to translucent, then remove lid and get them nice and golden. Make croissant squares from 2 triangles, place hot dog corner to corner, 1/2 slice of cheese on each side or in split down the middle. Smear with Kraft BBQ Sauce and add grilled onions to top for adults, roll all up in croissant dough square. Cook as instructed.
Easy, never had problem with burning or undercooking
We call these “Hogs in a Comforter “ cause they are too big to be “Pigs in a blanket”. We don’t eat hot dogs very often, but this is the way to go when we do 🙂
I used beef hotdogs and thinly sliced, sharp, block cheddar. They were very good.
My second time making this appetizer for parties. I found out it depends on what kind of sausage you use. Some are too salty.. I would find out the salt contents in them. I did not have the right kind roll ready so tried with crescent roll that I had. It turned out fine. A little difficult to work with, though. I will stick with the Pepperidge Farm pie crust next time.
I noticed that the hot dogs were a little too big for the crescent rolls, so i cut of about 1 1/2 Inches and they fit perfect! Other than that they were GREAT! Awesome job!
