Need to create a lot of chocolate chip cookies? You’re at the right location. This is a straightforward cookie recipe that yielded twelve cookies the size of ice cream scoops when multiplied by 25.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 large eggs
  2. 3 tablespoons honey mustard
  3. 1 pinch ground black pepper
  4. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  5. 1 tablespoon chicken seasoning blend
  6. 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, or to taste
  7. 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  8. 2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  9. salt to taste
  10. 1 cup plain bread crumbs
  11. 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  12. 8 ounces chicken tenders, patted dry
  13. ½ cup peanut oil

Instructions

  1. Mix eggs, honey mustard, and pepper together in a bowl. Mix flour, chicken seasoning, cayenne, red pepper flakes, seasoning salt, and salt together in a second bowl. Mix bread crumbs and garlic salt together in a third bowl.
  2. Dredge chicken tenders in the egg-honey mixture, then in the flour mixture, then back in the egg-honey mixture, and finally in the breading mixture. You want a medium coating on each tender.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Fry tenders in the hot oil until breading is dark and crispy and chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 10 minutes per side.
  4. Instead of plain flour, I use a seasoned flour mix such as Kentucky Kernel(R).
  5. You can use 2 sliced chicken breasts instead of chicken tenders.
  6. If you happen to have leftovers, you can make a simple chicken salad with them as well which tastes amazing! I just added mayonnaise, dill salad cubes, and salt and pepper! Yummy!
  7. We have determined the nutritional value of oil for frying based on a retention value of 10% after cooking. Amount will vary depending on cooking time and temperature, ingredient density, and specific type of oil used.

This recipe is good, easy, flavorful and mostly had on hand the ingredients. Have made it many times with couple changes. Au lieu of using 2 tsps. each of cayenne and crushed pepper flakes I only used 1tsp. of each, to taste. It turned out ?Amazing Good! ?? ?

Kids loved them – so did the adults. Probably should make a double batch from now on!

Since my chicken seasoning blend has cayenne, I eliminated the extra cayenne and red pepper flakes, which would have made it WAY too spicy. Flavor with this change was great. I’ve never been to Chick-Fil-It so cannot compare. Breading proportions are way off – recipe calls for 8 oz chicken but there was enough of the egg mixture for 21 oz, which fit perfectly in my 12″ pan. I halved the flour and breadcrumbs, and just needed an extra tablespoon of breadcrumbs to make this work for the extra chicken. Since I have a non stick pan, I was able to reduce the oil to 2 T. If doing this, I recommend cooking at Medium, as the crust is so thick it takes a while for the chicken to cook through, and the crust would burn on medium high. Hubby liked it. Will make again.

This was really good – didn’t change a thing. Will definitely make it again.

8.23.21 First, let me say that this chicken tastes nothing at all like Chick-fil-A® and IMO, has MANY issues. Two teaspoons each cayenne and crushed red pepper flakes for two servings would make this inedible for most people. Why does it have seasoning salt, garlic salt, and salt making it a sodium nightmare? If you cooked chicken tenders for 20 minutes over medium-high heat, the chicken would turn into a cinder. I couldn’t taste even a hint of honey mustard, this tasted just like I’d breaded a piece of chicken and fried it. A nutritional splurge is OK occasionally, but this recipe is simply unhealthy in every respect, and just not worth it. Sorry for the bad first review, and I don’t want to discourage others from trying it, but reviews need to be honest, and this just didn’t work for us. I’m giving it 2 stars because we ate it, but needless to say, I will not be making this again.
