I thought this was easy, fast and flavorful. I did not slice the kielbasa but left it whole and rinsed my sauerkraut before cooking. It was done in 4 hours. I also tried this with hotdogs and would not recommend hotdogs as they overcook.
Thank you so very much!!!! It was amazing!!!!!!!
Simple, but excellent! Cooking the sauerkraut with beer reduced some of the sourness, which I liked. With some Inglehoffer mustard on the plate – I’m good to go!
I have made a recipe like this many times. I’m not a beer fan, so I substitute zero sugar ginger ale for the beer. It adds an tittle sweetness. It is great over noodles with butter, and some Italian seasonings.
This was so easy and so good! I added fingerling potatoes, onion and green pepper to the bottom of the crockpot before adding the kielbasa, sauerkraut, and beer!
I made it without the beer and the sausage was so tender and juicy. Added 1/4 cup of brown sugar and the sauerkraut was mild and delicious.
It was delicious!
Delicious, cost effective, and very easy to make.
I make it in a much simpler way. . . Boil & drain some potatoes in their skins and set aside. . . In a large skillet, lightly brown sausage pieces (about 4 to a pound), and add a can of sauerkraut – drained. Heat through and add the potatoes. . . . My family has been doing this for about 100 years – it’s great.
SO GOOD! Didn’t change a thing!
Awesome and easy to prepare. I make this monthly because we love it!
I made this for years, but with pre cooked Kielbasa which I browned first and only slow cooked for less than an hour with apple slices in the sauerkraut. I prefer beer with flavor so I used a dark larger and let it steam off some. A couple of small quartered potatoes were also in the mix. A good Dijon mustard and some more beer and off we went into a rapture.
I added 1 medium onion thinly sliced, 1/2 tsp ground pepper, and 1/4 tsp caraway seeds.
I personally thought this was delicious! I used turkey kielbasa and browned it in a skillet first. Then doubled the sauerkraut and used one 12oz bottle of a really good brown lager. Then sprinkled with pepper. It was delicious! Will definitely make again soon.
So delicious, so easy I will make again ..
Loved it! So easy. I used sweet Italian sausage because that is what I had in the frig, and added some small redskin potatoes. Ten minutes, and it came out perfect. Next week with kielbasa. Sydney
Followed some of the other suggestions used Samual Adams Boston lager, spicey mustard honey and apple cider vinegar. Husband loved it, ate 2 plates!! Smelled wonderful cooking also!
No changes, although I used Yeungling lager and “beer” was specified. I would suggest two minor changes: 1. Provide serving size: I found it made six portions for us. 2. The overall cooking time was perfect, but I could have done the same on high for 2 hours.
So easy and so tasty. Perfect for when you’re busy. I would suggest a lighter, wheat beer for best flavor (Blue Moon).
I added onions and brown sugar. I will make it again. Delish!
This is so yummy …. and so flippin’ easy! The beer really gives an awesome flavor. This is my “go to” if I need to bring something to a potluck or an easy dinner for the family!
