Again being American Polish, Love this recipe!!
I started out making egg noodles at home and remembered I had this recipe saved. I used a red burgundy sweet onion from my garden and homegrown cabbage also. Even the eggs in the egg noodle recipe were from my hens. I loved this recipe, so delicious!
I used the same ingredients as in this recipe except that I used my Instant Pot for sautéing/cooking, and my Air Fryer lid for browning! After sautéing, I used my instant high pressure setting for two minutes, followed by a 10 minute natural release. I then used my air fryer lid on its “Bake” setting at 325 degrees for 15-20 minutes for browning. I think it still would’ve been delicious without browning it with the air fryer lid, but I liked the presentation so I used it.
Maybe my cabbage wasn’t so tender, but I needed to add water to steam the cabbage a little.
Love it! One of my favorites!
onions are a must !! onions, butter cabbage n sugar mixed with egg noodles !!! true Hungarian way sweet cabbage hulaskai probably spelled that wrong lol . Its a delicious meal ! everyone loves it ! All played by eye n taste ,true cooking style not measuring
I remember my grandmother making these when I was little. I’ve been making these since I learned how to cook. I add 2 cloves of chopped garlic and also use chopped white onions and paprika for some color. The cabbage is also great without the noodles as a side dish.
Another yummy comfort food! Go and get that delicious sausage and pair it with this side dish! You will love it on that chilly stay in night 🙂
Delicious. Made it with 8 oz. Of pasta which was plenty. Very easy.
Made it for a quick meal and was great. It made plenty that I was able to share some with our neighbor, and he really enjoyed it.
Delicious! I didn’t change a thing.
I hate to give a review when I didn’t make it exactly as written but I will give my rendition. It was good. I didn’t use butter but did everything else. I had grease in pan after cooking sausage so I just used 2 T of that instead of browning butter. It was good but even better the next day. I will try it with butter next time. I was easy and fast to make.
I make this alot. Everyone loves it. Only change I made was to use regular onion as I don’t care for red onion.
Delicious. Adjusted seasonings to taste, added noodles to pan after they were ready and let it simmer together. Threw a little sour cream in the mix and it was amazing. Reading others reviews, I only wish I had chicken broth on hand to add a little more flavor, would have been perfect!!
I never had this before or heard that it was a recipe concept. It sounded weird but i needed a cheap meal to make before payday…lol. Glad I tried it! I pretty much followed the recipes but I added vinegar and balsamic vinegar dressing to the cabbage while it was cooking. Will definitely do again!
Followed the recipe exactly as written. It was very good. I served it with polish sausage. Will definitely make this again.
This is a simple and delicious recipe. I do add some garlic powder as well. Also, I leave out the onion.
Excellent, my husband loves this and asks for it every week! I soak the cabbage in salted water first and also add garlic salt while its cooking, i also chop up turkey kielbasa and cook it with the cabbage and butter, its also good with kluski egg noodles. 5 stars here!
This is a wonderful and very easy recipe. I’ve made a similar version for years. It’s tasty enough to serve as a meatless main dish! Just one thing that I do differently. I add in a teaspoon of caraway seeds while the cabbage is sautéing. And at the end little bit of sour cream. You’ll get rave reviews over this one!
Deliciousness!
My entire family loved this meal! I am usually not a fan of cooked cabbage, but with 1/2 cup of butter & onions, it was delish! I also added a good helping of Hungarian Paprika, & served it with Organic Bacon Brats from our Farmer’s Market~ my 6 yr. old daughter kept saying,” Thank you Mama for making this German Meal!” You’re welcome!”
