Simple and tasty!

I don’t doubt that they’re tasty, but shouldn’t there be some cheese in au gratin potatoes?

Basic and Simple! What could be better? Before buttering the dish I rubbed it generously with garlic (family LIKES garlic! what can I say?. used only 2 cups of cream (it was all that I had!added 1/2 cup of sour cream. Also dusted the layers with a slight grating of fresh grated nutmeg. I make it several times a month and vary the original recipe with either, thinly sliced Vidalia onions, chopped parsley, chopped chives and even different cheeses and topped with toasted Panko breadcrumbs.
It is a MUST HAVE in any kitchen.

Oh my goodness these are perfect. I added gruyere cheese. My best friend request them whenever they are coming over for dinner.

Awesome Recipe! I did add some cheese like some of the other viewers have. I do think that the “nay-sayers” who claim that they “didn’t even try it” should keep their opinions to themselves and quit bringing down the rating until they have at least tried it! They should get a life! You go Bobby Flay!!

belgium_waffle_12785723 sounds like an elitist jerk. There is no reason to personally attack someone. Go back to France and stay there!

Everybody I’ve ever made this for LOVES it. So delicious- you don’t have to add anything, the recipe is perfect on its own. Most people can’t believe the recipe doesn’t include cheese because its so rich and creamy. Actually, it is so good I only make it twice per year because once I make it I can’t stop eating it.

Thought was really good and super easy. I put some cheese on at the end. could not be easier.

Yes Au Gratin, means grated… I tried the recipe anyway and added grated cheese and garlic, very tasty and enjoyable.

Bland, basically mashed potatoes without the mashing. This is not Au Gratin Potatoes. Au Gratin, in French, literally means “with gratings” which usually means grated cheese, grated bread crumbs, etc. Not as “Anonymous” incorrectly states “with breadcrumbs.” If “Anonymous” knew even just a little bit of basic French, they would know that. When we were on the Avenue des Champs-Elysees, in Paris, we had Au gratin potatoes with Gruyere on top. They were authentic and delicious. I recommend you find another recipe, or at least, don’t call this Au Gratin.
