Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 pounds small Brussels sprouts
  2. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  5. 1 tablespoon medium dry white wine
  6. 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl full of lightly salted water, soak the sprouts for 10 minutes to clean them, then rinse under running water. Trim off and discard any tough outer leaves. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise, and then thinly slice them crosswise.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium high heat. Saute the sprouts until they begin to turn golden, then add the salt, pepper and wine and cook for about 4 minutes more, or until barely limp (the wine will change the cooking method from sauteing to steaming). Stir in the lemon juice, taste for seasoning, and serve immediately.

This is really easy to make and very tasty! I have a picky husband who doesn’t usually say when he likes something or not. He loved them! I may have put a little more wine and lemon juice than required, but this is still a great base recipe!

Loved the taste of these. I did only slice the sprouts in half lengthwise then added about a quarter cup wine instead of the tablespoon, covered the dish and let it simmer until the sprouts were tender after browning them. Everyone raved and they disappeared.

Really good and so easy. I served this to 2 alleged brussels sprouts haters; they both had seconds. I may not make them any other way again.
