Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 4 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
  2. 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  3. 3 garlic cloves, sliced
  4. 3 sage leaves
  5. 2 bay leaves
  6. 2 ounces olive oil
  7. Pinch salt and freshly ground black pepper
  8. 3 slices lemon
  9. 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a saute pan, over medium heat, add the bacon and cook until the fat has been rendered. Remove to paper towels to drain.
  3. In a large bowl, add all the remaining ingredients, except the butter, and toss until the Brussels sprouts are coated with the oil. Lay out a 20-inch piece of parchment paper over aluminum foil on a sheet pan and pour the Brussels sprout mixture into the middle, then top with the butter and bacon. Fold the foil over itself and put into the preheated oven. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes or until they smell done. Remove the sprouts from the oven and transfer them to a serving bowl.

They forgot to include one more step in the recipe.
After they are finished from the oven, cook in a pan with butter, bacon, salt and pepper and chicken stock until the liquid bubbles get big.
I have tried this twice and it came close to tasting like they do at the restaurant. They were delicious.

I made small batches of 4 different brussel sprout recipes, all from Food Network. This recipe was by far the worst of the 4. Not to mention that the recipe is incomplete with what was on the show. Yes, the butter, bacon and chicken stock is for reheating in a restaurant setting but if you don’t use these ingredients it completely changes the taste of the dish. Not a fan, and I will not be making them again. My family liked the pan roasted brussels by Sunny Anderson: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sunny-anderson/pan-roasted-brussels-sprouts-with-bacon-recipe.html but I added some real maple syrup for sweetness.

I cook and love brussels sprouts. To get the slight bitterness out, I simply core the sprout just like you would a cabbage – using a pearing knife.
It works great.

I just seen this on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It looks amazing, I am so thankful to be able to get the recipe for this. I cant wait to make this. Thank you Naglee Park Garage in San Jose for this delicious looking dish.

Just watched the episode on tv. The recipe is missing the final step and ingredients. I had a aunt that would leave out ingredients and steps from every recipe she ever shared.

IF you enjoy brussel sprouts…after reading all comments AND…after going to the restaurant itself and ordered the sprouts…FYI info…
– the texture/liquid issue…modify cooking time to have the textures wanted
– other FoodTV shows featured treating the brussel sprout like head of cabbage…making coleslaw…shredding. This recipe using shredded sprouts is delicious! Great flavor and texture.

When this totally flopped I found a video of the show on You Tube. This recipe is far from the way they were cooked on the show. The second phase of cooking with chicken stock is not even mentioned in the recipe here. Even though I halved the Brussels Sprouts they were still not tender at all at 30 minutes. Saved by finishing off on a flat top on the grill.

I liked the recipe, even my kids enjoyed them. I would agree that pushing the time out to 40 minutes would be a good idea.

Keep in mind, as with all recipes, we have to adjust the ingredients for our own tastes. Also, keep in mind cooking times will vary with different ovens and with the size of the brussel sprouts.

Again I was not able to save a recipe due to the overlay of the
“like” on my save recipe to my file. When will this be fixed?
This is very annoying when I go to save to my recipe box. Please
correct this so I can save recipes…….Help!
