Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 3 (12-ounce) bottles lager beer
  2. 1 cup water
  3. 1 tablespoon shrimp boil seasoning or Creole seasoning mix
  4. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  5. 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  6. 1 lemon, juiced, halves reserved
  7. 1 stick unsalted butter
  8. 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, head and shell left on, rinsed well

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the beer, water, shrimp boil seasoning, salt, peppercorns and the juiced lemon halves to a boil over medium heat. Allow mixture to boil covered for 10 minutes. In the meantime, melt butter in a small saucepan and add the lemon juice. Add the shrimp to the pot of boiling beer, cover, and turn off heat. Check shrimp after 3 minutes for a pink color throughout. Using a slotted spoon, remove the shrimp and transfer to serving bowls.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of the beer boiling liquid to the butter and simmer for 2 minutes, then transfer to small serving bowls. Serve the warm shrimp with the butter dipping sauce on the side, and don’t forget the empty bowls for the shrimp shells. Enjoy!
  3. Serving Suggestion: I love a great loaf of French bread with this to sop up the yummy sauce!

This is absolutely one of my favorite recipes of all times!!! Seriously! We make this at least once a week… my family is so addicted to it. SO VERY yummy! I get my Cajun spices at World Market and it makes for the most delicious beer boil.

I liked this recipe too but I don’t know if the beer added any additional flavor either. It was delicious though!

in order for this to be a full meal for me and my bf, i added corn cobs and baby red potatoes. this was pretty good. it was the first time for me to make a shrimp boil so im not sure if the beer added anything vs using just water. we will make this again a couple times a year or for a dinner party. i just wish the shrimp had a little more flavor.

This was super good ! I used half lager and half pale ale for the beer. This had so much more flavor than when I grill the shrimp! YUM!

Love the taste. Turned it into a low country boil with veggies. Love your show. I love the out takes at the end. Funny, funny Just wish it came on a little later so I could watch it more on Sunday.

Super-easy. Threw some par-boiled new potatoes, corn, & quartered onions into the beer broth to boil for about 2-3 minutes. Added extra Old Bay seasoning, mustard seed & red pepper flakes. Everything was really good, will definitely make this again.
Tracy Love
Definitely a repeat! Very easy and delicious outcome.
