Turkey Melts with Sweet-N-Sour Slaw and ‘Monster’ Cheese

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  2. 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  3. 2 tablespoons sugar
  4. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  5. 1 cup shredded cole slaw mix
  6. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
  7. 12 ounces leftover turkey tenderloin, thinly sliced
  8. 4 kaiser or submarine rolls
  9. 4 thick slices Muenster cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cider vinegar, honey mustard, sugar, and oil. Add slaw mix and parsley and mix well.
  3. Arrange turkey slices on bottom half of rolls. Place rolls on a baking sheet. Spoon slaw mixture over turkey and top slaw with Muenster cheese. Place sandwiches until broiler and broil 3 minutes, until cheese melts.

It was OK.  My wife liked it said it was Gourmet-ish I thought the slaw took away the turkey flavor.

I really didn’t enjoy this recipe at all. I made the slaw to go on top, but it was so awful-tasting that we didn’t even use it. (It was so bitter-tasting; it didn’t get any better even after adding more sugar to it.) I made the sandwiches with the flavorless turkey, muenster cheese, and mayo. I won’t be making this again, though; it really wasn’t worth my time.
