Ingredients
- 3 pounds Alaskan king or snow crab legs, thawed if frozen
- Freshly ground pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 stick unsalted butter, cubed
- 6 cloves garlic, chopped
- 10 thin slices peeled ginger
- 8 scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 4 red jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- White rice, for serving
Instructions
- Cut the crab legs into 3-inch pieces with kitchen shears. Cut along one side of the shell on each piece so the meat can be easily removed after cooking.
- Place the remaining ingredients by the stove. Toast 2 tablespoons pepper in a small skillet over medium-high heat until fragrant, about 2 minutes; remove from the heat.
- Heat the vegetable oil and butter in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat until sizzling (you can also set a roasting pan over two burners). Add the garlic, ginger, scallions and jalapenos; sprinkle with the sugar and cook, stirring, until the mixture is fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the crab pieces, oyster sauce and soy sauce. Cook, tossing, until heated through, about 5 minutes. Scatter the toasted pepper on top and continue to cook, tossing, about 1 more minute. Transfer the crab and sauce to a bowl. Serve with rice.

My husband LOVES crab! For Father’s Day I decided to prepare them like this, he requests that I make it this way from now on. The sauce is so good he poured the leftover over rice and put random meat on top. Not one drop of that sauce was wasted.
Delicious! Everyone loved it. My wife’s comment “ To die for”
Wonderful tasting and flavor filled dish
It was amazing, just the right amount of Jalapeños to give it a little kick
Our family has no need for jalapenos, so we omitted that… but this recipe was killer. Paired with Prime Ribeye steak and a wedge salad, this was the best meal of the year. We even decided to make this an annual occurence.
I made this for a date night with my husband. Prepping the crab legs took me over thirty minutes, but I have never done it before. I followed the recipe except I used two TEASPOONS of pepper, not TABLESPOONS. That was after reading other comments. I think it is a typo. I also used green jalapeños because you can’t get red in my small town. So other than those two small things I followed the recipe to the letter. I would definitely make this again! It was delicious!!
This was my first time cooking crab legs at home; crab legs have always intimidated me. This recipe was so easy and so flavorful! My husband said this was the best meal I’ve ever cooked. I followed the recipe exactly, except I didn’t serve with rice. I served the crab legs along with steak for a surf n’ turf. Amazing!
I wasn’t sure I’d like this as I always just steamed snow crab with beer, vinegar and old bay. These were delicious!! Will definitely make these again, maybe even more than my previous way.
This turned out great. I had to use green jalapeno because I don’t have red but I had all the other ingredients. This has an Asian feel to it with a spicy kick, we loved it. It’s very easy to make and the tip about cutting along the side of the shell really helps. It makes it easy to peel and it allows some of your sauce to get into the crab a bit while they cook. We had this with jasmine rice and butter.
Best king crab I’ve ever eaten. The sauce was delicious. Got a lot of yums from everyone.
