Did not like the flavor. Video says 1/2 c figs – so made it that way, still too much for our tastes. Maybe we just don’t like figs??

This is very good, even though I don’t like the dried figs in it. I love regular figs… never had dried figs until now. & I never will again. I am finding them a bit bitter in this dish & just not good. Despite that, the dish is very good… when I make it again, I’ll just change up & use another dried fruit, along with the cranberries. I could see putting different kinds of dried food you like in it. Mine came out perfectly cooked in 8 hours time. Can’t wait to see today which two teams are going to the Super Bowl. Should be two good games!

This is a great recipe! Shocked that it doesn’t have a rating of 5. I think a lot of people don’t use steel cut oats. Fast cooking oats won’t be good for this. I like to add brown sugar, a cinnamon stick, and a bit of nutmeg. The aroma from this on a cold morning is amazing.

Sadly, I found this recipe to be terrible. I followed the instructions exactly, adding only the called for ingredients, slow cooking it for exactly 8 hours on low, and the finished product was burned and inedible. Very surprising results for an Alton Brown recipe.

This recipe is delicious. Made it twice so far and I will keep making it. I did add two cups of milk because I love my oatmeal creamier. Hubby who does not like oatmeal is loving this oatmeal recipe.
Thank you!

Does someone have the nutritional breakdown of this per serving? I am going to track food and this is by far my favorite oatmeal recipe so would like to incorporate it (I actually use almond milk instead of half and half).

Really yummy and great left overs for the next morning.

Let me say if you like figs…..this is really good! Luckily I do but the figs are the dominant flavor for sure. If you don’t care for figs, it works with any other dried fruit as well
