Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 6 trout fillets
  2. 1 medium white or yellow onion
  3. Large lemon
  4. 6 to 8 cloves garlic, crushed
  5. 1/3 stick butter
  6. Salt and ground black pepper
  7. 6 aluminum sheets, approximately 12 by 12 inches

Instructions

  1. Heat grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Rinse fillets and pat dry. Slice onion into 1/8-inch rings, and set aside. Slice lemon into 1/8-inch rings, remove seeds and set aside.
  3. Rub 1 clove of crushed garlic over the fillet. Place fillet in the center of the aluminum foil. Top with 1 pat of butter, 2 to 3 onion rings, then season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cover fish with 1 or 2 lemon rings. Fold aluminum foil around fish to create a sealed package. Repeat for each fillet.
  4. Place packets on hot grill for 5 minutes or until cooked through, careful not to overcook the fillets. Remove fish from foil, plate and serve immediately.

Excellent recipe that doesn’t require field trip to the grocery store. All items are always in hand. Thank you Bobby!

Maybe it was the fish…I don’t know. I used a farm raised trout. It was totally blah….little flavor. It was tender and moist, but just “fishy”. We didn’t care for it at all.

This was a very easy dish to make during the week. While the fish was good the dish, as a whole, lacked flavor.
